    "Off to a good start"

    May 18, 2004  |   By Strider72

    Version: iVideo 2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is a pretty solid application, so far as I can tell from the 10-movie limited demo. There are a few odd limitations that need to be addressed, however:

    1) The filenames are limited to 26 characters + the extension. The full name gets cropped off on import.

    2) I should be able to set the date of a movie within iVideo (rather than using the file's date attribute). If I have TV shows or a movie or something, I might want to put the release/first aired date in here. If I import a home movie from VHS, I will want to use the date filmed, not the date imported.

Beyond those two important limitations, the program is very solid. Playback options are great, export is a pleasantly surprising addition (though they might add an "export DV to video camera" option), and the Smart Playlists are well done.

In terms of the future, the developer might be wise to take some tips from iTunes instead of iPhoto. Categories and further information columns might be a very nice touch. Overall, however, this program is solid and very useable.

    "Nearly Perfect!"

OK, I haven't done much with it yet but so far I love it! Mirrors the iPhoto/iTunes interface almost perfectly, seems reasonably fast to me (though admittedly I've only put a few movies on it so far).

Kudos for the product so far, looking forward to seeing this develop further!

    "Solid"

    September 15, 2003  |   By Drew Hamlin

    Version: iVideo 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've spent nearly a month with the developers and this program beta testing it and ironing it down perfectly. I'm delighted with the result, which is responsive and feature-rich. The only complaint I have to date is loading time, which is understandable given the large number of movies that the application has to reach out to get previews from.

The fact that this application is not Cocoa has little to nothing to do with the integrity of this program, and I'd strongly contest the challenge that the GUI is not responsive.

Thanks to Waterfall for an excellent application.

    "nice 'n' slow"

Exactly what I was looking for. Ok, iView can do the same and a bit to much more for me. This is a small nice but slow app. I hope iPhoto 3 can do this job in the future. For 10 Dollars I would register, but 17 is a bit to much for this version.

    "About time.."

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It's about time we get something like this. This is a well-designed app but feel a little rough around the edge. The GUI is not very responsive. I'm not sure why Cocoa isn't the language used for this app.

I also don't like how iVideo stretch all of my videos in Preview Box. Other than that, iVideo is definitely a good start.
