    "Safari crash"

    August 18, 2009   |   By raytom54

    Version: iTunesVolume 1.2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This makes Safari crash under Tiger.
It also keeps opening iTunes by itself when I don't want it open and you can't stop it from doing it until you shut down.
I couldn't figure out how to simply quit the program.

"Finally found what I've been looking for."

    Version: iTunesVolume 1.0.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Well, not "perfectly true," but with the *addition* of this I now have all I want for iTunes use. First there's iTunes, much maligned (but if you're interested in these helper apps you must be OK with iTunes). Then I use Synergy as 1) I paid long ago and 2) it is more solid (reliable and featured) than any one other app. GimmeSomeTune causes stutter though not as bad as before. TotalTunesControl comes close but lacks a feature or style I want (but price is decent). Playwatch is a good start (and price is decent). CoverSutra is way overpriced. TuneBar is slick in some respects but is lacking in a couple other areas.

But with iTunes and Synergy I have the best of all mentioned above: global hotkey support and nice/flexible artwork floater on track change using Synergy; volume control without having yet another something in my menu bar (plus iTunesVolume's controller can be set to be almost invisible in your workspace) & ability to display huge album art (great Playwatch feature) as well as track info using iTunesVolume. Plus iTunesVolume is free.

Other than the lack of good usage info (in English for us gringos) I really do not have any issues at all. I would like it to show art & info on track change but Synergy does that. I would like it to open/close with iTunes open/close but I can do an Automator action for that.

    I am happy.

    "MUST! HAVE!"

    Version: iTunesVolume 1.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is an absolutely fantastic little app, I wouldn't want to use my iTunes w/o it any more.

Although you have to do a little work to access it:

    - click-and-hold or right-click on the button resp. slider for menus
    - cmd-click-and-drag the window itself
    - hold the ctrl-key pressed if you want to move the album art and info windows

... it's fairly intuitive if you've done it a few times and IMO every Mac user should get acquainted with using the cmd, alt and ctrl keys, therefore I give it five stars in "Ease of Use" although I know that many people may disagree here.

I especially appreciate the ability to play _all_songs_ in the shopping cart or anywhere in the iTunes Store.

Enjoy using this: lots of little features and good ideas. Some functions unclear or unexplained. But they are all "extras". This is now one of my "must have" iTunes enhancements. 5-stars when a pop-up is added guiding the user on functionality.

    "Great App"

This is a great little app if you need a little more control over volume. You also can hover your mouse over the slider bar to get all info about the current song. You have a timer that allows you to tell iTunes to shut off. You can even rate songs. Again, Great App.

I like it. I never did like the other apps that placed the controller in the top menu. One thing I think this app could stand, is having next and previous buttons on the icon.

"A lot of undocumented power packed into this app!"

    February 09, 2007   |   By lawrence1950

    Version: iTunes Volume 8.6.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It is easy to miss the power locked inside this floating iTunes Volume slider, much of its functionality goes unexplained 'cuz the app first appeared on a foreign language site. Fortunately, a bit of experimenting with the Command & Control keys opens a world of functionality. The 2nd key to unlocking the power of this app involves clicking (and then holding down) on the volume slider knob. In combination, these actions work together to open an amazing amount of customization.

The slider knob is your gateway to the Preference windows, which control the various windows and how they're displayed (floating on top, on the Desktop, transparency, sizing or disappearing until the slider is clicked on). There are pref windows for the volume slider, the album art, song info display, a speech control (it will announce song names & other info...even in Japanese, the developer's native tongue), a sleep timer and a Quit command for the app.

Beyond this, using the Command key allows the slider to be dragged to whatever position on the screen you wish and using the Control key pulls up the same commands and prefference screens available when holding down the slider knob. You can play the next song or the previous song on a playlist, you can access all of your playlists, or you can loop the same song over and over, you may even command iTune Volume to play ALL of your ITMS purchased songs! Dragging the slider all the way down will stop the music completely while clicking on the knob once will restart the song...and clicking on it twice will bring iTunes back up as the active app if you have hidden iTunes.

And you WILL hide iTunes a lot after installing this application! You can listen to whatever you wish while working with other apps while losing no control over iTunes' functionality! So download this great controller and play around with it...there's a world of power to explore in iTunes Volume.
