    Version: iTunes 6

"This program is very mainstream and easy to use"

    by LoW_Reviewer on December 8, 2005

Pros: Works great, excellent design. Please don't get overscared by the cons.

Cons: The bad news is for us security consious people out there. This program has several vulnerabilities which can cause virus/trojans to get in. This program is great, it just needs some hardening. Our tests showed a lot of security vulnerabilities.

    "Getting hard on memory."

by Starwarskid on September 14, 2006

Pros: Great new features, such as automatic artwork finder, and a well organized workspace. Much better than iTunes 6.

Cons: Memory hog. around 85 MB constantly. Also, music skips unless I set the priority to Above Average in task manager. I recommend this update, but only if your PC has the specs. (1 GB RAM+)

    "The best music jukebox around!"

    by computer_genius on September 9, 2005

Pros: The new interface is great! It has an excellent sound quality, and it's for free. It's very feature-rich, and it's completely configurable. It doesn't come with any malware too. It even has parental controls which is not common in music jbs. The iTunes music store is the most comprehensive music store that I have ever tried. It's really the best music jukebox ever!!

Cons: iTunes requires QuickTime to work. The installer size is extremely big, but it's worth it because the program is really very feature-rich.

    "Still one of the best"

    by computer_genius on September 30, 2006

Pros: Excellent and well-managed interface. Managing music is very easy, and the music store is the best I've ever known. The new "flipping through albums" are just great, and sound quality is really good as always. The interface changed, but it's still the media player with the best interface for me.

Cons: This version has improved a lot, but you can't avoid the flaws. I have a system with 2.4GHz and 1GB RAM, and it just runs great. But on my system with 2.4GHz and 256MB RAM, it just slows down compared to version 6. Before, I can run YM v8; Opera; and iTunes v6 very smoothly, but now; even though you can run them at the same time it's a bit slower. And I think the interface has affected the way it runs too, since when you hover through the music in the library (I don't keep playlists, I just manage them in one library) it's slow unlike before. And when adding multiple music tracks, I can only add up to 3. Before, I can add as much as I like without any errors; but now I import them 3 by 3's, and it's just annoying when you have to transfer albums. I don't know if it's like this with other systems, but with me it's like that. Anyway iTunes is still a great media player in spite of the flaws, still worth a try.

"Great audio file program, but the music store needs one considerable change"

    by Stinger15 on March 11, 2006

Pros: Not much change from the 6.0. It orders your mp3, acc, m4p, and m4a collection. Has many options for ordering, playing, random shuffle. Has podcasts, but they do not impress me much.

Has a great visualizer, does not need much RAM. View options have a large variety of information for songs. Automatically creates folders for each artist with albums instead of mp3 files spread out in a the iTunes music folder.

Great sound quality. Great video quality for the videos. Not slow at all. Mini player is ok, it doesn't have much for options at all.

I would recommend this as your main music player, but only for that.

Cons: You must have a seperate program to get rid of duplicate songs. It automatically converts WMAs, which creates a new file and takes up double space on your harddrive. Also the store is very slow at browsing.

The thing that really makes me mad about Apple is buying music from them. DO NOT buy from them unless you have an iPod. The format that you buy it in is a protected m4p, in which only iPod can play, no other mp3 player. I have an iRiver and I can't get my songs on there because of Apple.

The built-in CD ripper is really slow and only rips in m4a format, which is also only compatible with iPod. Does not see an external CD writer. Must have a built-in CD writer.

If you have a different CD writer installed (i.e. BACKPACK CD-REWRITER) iTunes will notice it and come up with a message saying that there is another CD writer program installed, reinstal iTunes... very annoying.
