I've been using iSquint for a few months now. I love it! So easy to use and gets the job done right EVERY time. But what I dig the most is the developer's sence of humor. Very cute.

I think this is a really slick little app. The fact that it's free is just the icing on the cake. I never leave feedback on apps, ever...but this one demanded it. I just pressed "Help" in the menu and laughed by ass off. The whole interface is comedy and it basically does exactly what it says on the tin. Great little app. Thanks, creators.

BETTER THAN PORKCHOP SANDWICHES!!!

The encoding is so fast, and the quality rocks, and it's FREE.
It can handle tons of file types and formats as well.
If iSquint was an ebayer... 100% feedback

"first impressions"

 |  Version: iSquint 1.3.2

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have only encoded two videos so far and I'm pretty amazed. First, iSquint made a 50MB mpeg music video 20MB and it still looks great. I thought it would suffer from degradation. Second, it encoded a DVD rip of a music video perfectly. I'm amazed because I don't understand how iSquint can do its job so well. Since other programs have trouble, I thought encoding to iPod format was a difficult task. My experiences:

FfmpegX, which is not gratis, doesn't do aspect ratios well and even when using the iPod presets, the video doesn't work on the iPod.

Handbrake, which is gratis, handled aspect ratios fine, worked on the iPod, but introduced audio warbles in the video.

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus is also fine with aspect ratio and produces great files for the iPod. But it costs money to encode anything more than ten minutes long. There seem to be a few UI glitches with changing the advanced settings for files. forty-two was a great application but isn't working in Tiger for many people (including me). I had good experiences with forty-two so I was pretty close to paying for DVD-VX plus. Then I found iSquint...

I'll keep trying it out but I really like that it is gratis and how the entire queue can have the same settings. It totes handling a lot of different formats. (I have tried mpeg and dv.)

With all the other attempts out there, "How does the developer do it?" is my biggest question.

"LOVE IT!!!"

Summary

iSquint is awesome... works great. The perfect solution for iPod video.

Only one complaint. What about VCD? I've been trying to convert VCD my m4v, or mp4 with no luck. I was able to open the .dat file in QT and save... but it's a single layer .mov, and iSquint won't take it. Exporting only results in the loss of the audio track.

If anyone has a solution to this please let me know... srammij@gmail.com

Awesome program though.

and... i love the help menu.
