  Summary

  iPlayer Pro phones home to Google Analytics. The only reason to do so to my knowledge is to allow Google surveillance of my computer behavior. If your app is going to surveil my computer use, then ASK MY PERMISSION FIRST, DAMMIT. I have used my reverse firewall Little Snitch to deny iPlayer Pro access to Google Analytics forever. I suggest other folks with reverse firewalls consider doing the same.

  Easy browsing using the Beeb's own iplayer interface, simple one click downloading, multiple concurrent downloads, proxies supported. Supports video (TV) and audio (radio) content.

  Cons

  Can't enter links to other, bbc, non-iplayer content (ie interviews etc on the bbc news pages). Can't find a way to limit bandwidth usage. No menu help support - those other features may be supported somehow, but without a help file, I don't know!

  Summary

  Very nifty little app, makes downloading iplayer content very straightforward. Installation was as easy as you'd expect, and using the app was very intuitive. Fundamentally, it's just a Safari browser window with some code to download instead of playing the video/audio. All the same, the lack of a help file, and other little missing features stop me giving it a full 5/5. Also the product description says you can choose what format to save your downloads in, but I can't find that feature anywhere - video downloads as .mov and audio as .mp3 by default, although really this doesn't pose much of a problem. Looking forward to further refinement in later editions, but for the moment this is my first choice for downloading iplayer content.
