"One of my first purchased software"

    June 27, 2005  |   By Ilgaz

    Version: iGetter 2.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I look 2 things on a download manager

    1) Stability
    2) Configuration options.

Thanks to its modern core-ui seperate design this application never failed. You could have 1000 other features but if your download manager stops and corrupts file at 99%, its not a download manager, its waste of time.

On not so stable Tiger, its one of my rare applications doesn't have a single entry at crash reporter.

I definitely recommend it as a versiontracker pro user. Its so good so I doubleclick updates instead of downloading from vt pro (while it has a good dl manager) to get via iGetter, especially "Big" updates.

As VT promises next version will be able to select a download manager to use (whatever can handle), it will rock.

    "Good download manager"

    March 11, 2005  |   By Domino_k

    Version: iGetter 2.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Works well. And customer service is fast.

    Some room for improvement though:

    Better Applescript support.

Support for download and post-processing rules.

Better support for site preferences (range of IP adress, etc...)

The only 5 minutes I took is to switch to another program, Speed Download, which not only is much easier to use, but is noticeably much faster, and offers a heck of lot more features and value. Oh and DOESNT CRASH OR LOSE MY DATA!!

    Version: iGetter 2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Against my better judgment, I decided to give this download manager a try to make a colleague of mine happy. Unfortunately, as I had somehow anticipated, this application not only screwed up all my internet settings, it lost all my downloaded files, and gave me 2 extra hours of unneeded aggravation while I cleaned up its mess.

This is not a decent Macintosh application, and sure as hell should not be recommended to anyone. The only good thing that came out of this miserable experience, is that my 'advisor' ended up trashing it off his system as well. Luckily for him, he hadn't run it yet!

As for all these wonderful ratings posted here, I truly question their validity and honesty. This app is a nightmare.

"you're missing out if you don't try this"

    Version: iGetter 2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I cannot discribe how far more advanced this app is compared to speed download.
It starts up and quits instantly compared to a very noticeable lag with SD doing both.
I have never had a problem downloading from any url.
The plug-in is a heck of a lot faster than SD and cathes 'almost' everything - SD catches about 50% of the links I click on and takes it's time doing it and the going back to the page.
For those saying this is a copy of a windows app or SD, grow up! - that's like saying microsoft word is a copy of textedit. This app started either before or around the same time as SD and has always had it's own features.

    "2.0 is a huge improvement"

    September 8, 2004  |   By WolfNaegeli

    Version: iGetter 2.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Version 2.0 of iGetter is very well integrated with Mac OS X. It now is downloading all the files from the servers that used to cause version 1.9.5 and earlier to choke because they required SSL support. iGetter 2.0 also is very fast

Overall, it is an excellent program and I would give it five stars if it weren't for its steep (upgrade) price and its most cumbersome activation procedure. After your payment gets confirmed, you actually have to send an email to the publisher requesting activation, thus I had to take off points for Ease of Use and Support, as well as for price.

I normally avoid any software that depends on a vendor's central license server/authentication mechanism because you can never be sure whether it still will work when the company goes under or its server gets wiped out by some disaster. I wouln't have bought or upgraded it if it had cost me any more than the $25 I paid for the upgrade.

    Summary

I have used 1.5 for years, but stopped after Safari offered resumable downloads and I wasn't able to get dmg files to redirect to iGetter.

This version 2.0 downloads dmg files without a hitch.

It handles large files without losing much when my modem disconnects. This is much better than Safari.

    "Does not integrate in Safari"

June 24, 2004  |   By Marius van Wyk

    Version: iGetter 1.9.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Half the features are not working in Safari, and Presenta (iGetter producer) are not interested in bringing out updates and bugfixes.

I've bought this product, and am sorry I did! Their support sucks... they blantantly lied to me just to get me to pay for it!

I've got a purchased copy of it, but I prefer to just use Safari's built-in manager these days!

    "don't do this to yourself"

    December 21, 2003  |   By gurugeek

    Version: iGetter 1.9.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I used igetter with several files and this software has something that clearly set itself apart from any other file accelerator : the great ability to corrupt the downloaded files.

No matter what, when you download it with igetter 2 files our of 3 are screwed got life.

Not content of his amazing results as a file-killer, you will find out with a simple test with camino downloader that the 99 segmented download, is not working. Officially it does, but in fact it is exactly the same identic speed as with camino, mozilla or you name it.

Don't do this to yourself. Not worth the money, your time & nervs.

used on a imac 1 ghz running panther and powered by a geek.
