From Stephan Klauser:
Imagine Cinderella would have had iCONex...What is iCONex?iCONex is a new iPhone/iPod touch app that makes it very easy to exchange your contact details with someone you have just met. How does it work?iCONex is based on the QR-Technology. It translates every Business Card you create into a vCard QR-Code that you can present. When you meet someone new you would like to share Business Cards with you just show the QR-Code of the card you want to give away and scan the QR-Code that is being presented to you. No paper work. Is it for Business people only? No. Also as a private person you probably want to share phone numbers or email addresses with someone you have just met. What if the person I meet doesnt have iCONex?Well, it still can download it... . To be serious, iCONex can read vCard and MeCard formats and produces cards (iCONs) for you in the very common vCard 2.1 format. So theres a big chance that youll be able to exchange your contact details also with someone using another app. I have heared of such apps - what makes iCONex special?- iCONex has been designed especially to make sharing fast and easy. Really, within some seconds you will have exchanged contact details with someone else. If you exchange your details with someone having iCONex too youll be staying linked to that persons card (iCON). That means whenever this person will make updates to its card (iCON) in the future youll get those updates within some seconds too.- iCONex not only stores contact details but also the point in time and geographical location where you made the contact. Imagine: Ah, I remeber where I met that guy but have no idea what his name was.... An easy task with iCONex.- Card details can be used directly: Pressing on a phone number will dial it. Pressing on an email address will start editing an email to that address. Pressing on an address will look it up in your maps application.- Last but not least iCONex can be used to scan every QR-Code and send its content to your email address. Remember all those QR codes being around? I dont trust those things all my contact details get uploaded and who knows what theyll be used for...- We think your opinion is correct. Thats why we treat this part seriously. The iCONex server doesnt store any contact details in general. It only stores the logic linking of cards (iCONs) that have been exchanged. All connections to the iCONex server are SSL secured and cannot be eavesdropped. If a card (iCON) is being updated the single updates are kept on the server until all your peered cards (iCONs) got updated we keep such updates in maximum for one month. Then they are deleted from the server no matter whether all peered cards (iCONs) got your updates or not.- The QR Code of your cards (iCONs) is created by the iCONex server. Therefore the card information has to be sent to the server. Anyway none of this data is neither being logged nor saved.
