"It's a shame"
Version: iBeeZz 2.4.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Got a dual 1.8 and would come home from work to a Mac wind tunnel. Finally discovered that it was starting weekday mornings at 7:00, precisely when I set iBeeZee to put the Mac to sleep. Wakes it up fine, but now it's unusable, and as noted there is no upgrade coming and no support whatsoever. If there's a legitimate reason, couldn't the developer have sent out an e-mail to those of us who paid for his product? I know he has my address. Anyone know of a good alternative? -

Hello,
We are sorry to inform you that no iBeeZz updates will be released. However, the latest version is still working from Mac OS X 10.2 to Mac OS X 10.4 on all Macs excepting a few models. Otherwise, when installing iBeeZz you accepted the following license article:
5. Updates. Once you have registered your copy of iBeeZz, next revisions, upgrades or updates re free until the next major release, but the author (Olivier Delécluse) incurs no obligation to furnish such revisions, upgrades or updates to you, the â??end userâ??. However, the author may disable any registration key code in future releases without any warning if the personal registration key code is revealed or (publicly) found.
Purchasing a license means that iBeeZz has been working on your system and you have been using it for a while. Thus we have no reason to make you a refund.
Be sure we are sorry for that inconvenience, but our professional commitments do not allow us to do anything with iBeeZz.
Best regards,
--

"dead product, no longer works"
Version: iBeeZz 2.4.1
Summary

This program worked well when I bought it, but then started to have intermittent problems: the daemon often crashed, so alarms would just stop working. My emails also went unanswered, and so I wrote a cron job to keep it working. As of the latest system update, it has simply stopped working altogether.
Do not buy the program.

"This vendor stole my registration fee! (follow-up)"

I am pleased to report my situation has been rectified by Olivier Delécluse. Apparently ours has been a comedy of errors dating back to April, 2004. Mr. Delécluse mailed me an email thread yesterday showing his attempts to send my registration on 2004-4-16 and again on 2004-4-23. I would construe this as a good faith effort on his part. Apparently my ISP's spam filtering must have blocked his emails.
in the now-defunct iBeeZz forums we discussed the possibility that lost registration codes might have been due to spam filtering. For that reason I encouraged Olivier Delécluse to send my registration via internal email on his own web page. Unfortunately his forums and internal email went offline a couple of weeks later. Despite checking back there daily I never received my registration before the iBeeZz Forums went down.
Thank you, VersionTracker, for giving us one last avenue to communicate.
I gladly revise my previous review of iBeeZz to set the record straight here. This program serves a definite niche for those who want to have control of sleep/wake cycles on their Mac. It does exactly what the developer says it's supposed to do. I've seen no crashes or other incompatabilities with OS versions 10.3.2 or 10.3.4. -

Two months after submitting my previous review, I still received no satisfaction from Olivier Delecluse. There were multiple active discussion threads about the subject of stolen registration fees at http://forums.ibeezz.com until the forums mysteriously shut down three weeks ago. iBeeZz Forums remain down to this date. Needless to say, I was not the only user who did not receive a paid registration. Shame, Beeloo, shame! -

Beware of sending this company any money. I registered my copy of iBeeZz online 4/15/04, using PayPal to do the transaction. Olivier Delecluse accepted my payment on 4/17/04, but I never received my iBeeZz license from them. Repeated polite attempts to rectify this situation by contacting beloo@reboute.net, support@reboute.net, and ibeezz@reboute.net on 4/21, 4/22, and 4/27/04 all went unanswered. Finally, out of desparation, I filed a complaint with PayPal about this company. Olivier Delecluse responded to Paypal that there was no basis for my complaint, though they refused to offer any evidence that they provided a license, nor did they offer to make good on the situation in any way. One month later I still have not received the license, nor a refund, nor any response to my repeated emails. PayPal terminated their investigation without taking any action, â??because the item purchased was virtual or intangible.â?? I feel I was robbed by Olivier Delecruse. -

not having iBeeZz on my machine, both as an alarm clock and to wake up the machine for scheduled backups *before* I wake up. A very responsive developer and a great product. And with the last couple of versions it *never* fails. Hurray! -
"Great Product"

I bought this product only after a few minutes of use. It's a great program with many features that can be customized to one's taste. If you need to switch on and off your computer regularly and without any problem then this is the way to go. Fariborz Amirshahi - Verona (Italy)
