"Close! But no cigar!"
Version: iAlertU 0.29b
Summary

I can confirm the bugs the others mentioned. Sometimes it does take a picture, sometimes it doesn't. But it never emails it anywhere I told it to.
But the show-off is priceless! Cool bling! And I think any thief will remove him/herself post-haste when that siren goes off! Terrific!
But the 'Beta' testing has been going on for 2 years now. When will there be a version 1.X ? -

I recently installed this on a Macbook, and its a neat little app. However, I borrowed a friends remote and theirs unlocked my computer as-well. Will there be a feature to lock the program to one program, or if not have the program prompt you for your "system" password. Also, if you do set off the alarm you should be able to hit a configurable key-combo to ask for password to disarm. This would be helpful if you miss placed your remote. -

"Stored Pictures"
Version: iAlertU .01
Summary

I think this a fun app however, the picture that is taken gets stored on the computer. If someone was to actually steal the computer, the picture goes with it. It would be great if the photo was actually automatically emailed to your email...then it could be accessed from any computer. I don't think anyone will ever steal mine cause there is never an opportunity, but if it should happen, it would be nice to have the access to the photo. Just a thought. -
"For real..."

This is not going to stop anyone stealing the latop... Does a house alarm stop people breaking in - or a car alarm stop you car from being stolen... no.
What this is great for is to stop eyes / people you know getting access to you laptop. Great in an office situation or when with friends..
I LOVE IT! -
"Great"

Great tool. I would like to be able to hide the preferences though and leave the menu extra to launch iAlertU. That would be much better than a dock icon or an application that needs to be hunted down in the Application folder. Think of the Airport menu extra... arm, disarm, prefs, quit.. that sort of thing.
