"Installation is difficult."

Pros
I own a 1315 PSC. I have had it for many years use it for "light" use. The problems I have had with it is installing with HP's procedure that came with it. BTW I run it on XP and Win7, on Win7 it is simply PNP. The installation disk and instructions that came with the printer have ALWAYS been iffy with the XP. It is only a miracle and a lot of profanity before XP decides to NOT attempt to install the PSC using PNP and allow the HP software do the job. The ink is expensive, when isn't it? Toss out your old inexpensive PSC when it runs out of ink and buy a new one.
Recycle the old one. New PSC's are inexpensive, considering the ink costs. Sorry this is more my opinion, but this PSC is so ancient I am surprised it is still in use or being sold.Cons
HP's installation procedure doesn't work smoothly, neither does XP PNP. HP's web site was of little help to me, driver update didn't help(drivers were already up to date.)
Summary
I had the above issues when I first bought the machine, and miraculously some "mistake" installed it. The last time the issue came up (re-installion) was when I accidentally un installed it from the control panel. This was just recently (May 2012)
