"Fantastic for Gmail users"
Pros
Excellent integration with Gmail, google calendar and google tasks. Gmail contacts are downloaded as well.
Cons
With my gmail contacts, all my contacts are downloaded, but it doesn't see all my contact folders. Not a huge deal, but I can't filter my contacts according to certain groups that I have been able to before.
Summary
I had tried previous versions of emclient before, and was never quite satisfied with it due to the ability to only sync the main gmail calendar, and no convenient way to sync anything else related to google products. However, it has since improved immensely as you can now sync all google calendars (2 way sync), as well as google tasks, the latter of which I have never been able to do with thunderbird, my previous email client. Another thing thunderbird lacks is a 2 line view option for the message list. Emclient has it, which really helps clean up the interface. I also love the sidebars, particularly the contact details view, that shows you a history of communication from a particular contact, and the agenda that shows a list of appointments. Other clients have this, but this one seems to be one of the cleaner agenda views I've come across. It also integrates well with skype, and the contact details sidebar shows you a history of chat sessions you have had with a particular contact through skype. Pretty cool. The one gripe I have is that, while emclient will sync all my gmail contacts individually, for some reason it will only fetch some of the contact folders I have set up in gmail. It's not a huge deal, but it makes it inconvenient if I want to filter my contacts using a folder that should be there, but is not. If I try to add that folder to my gmail contacts through emclient, it tells me the feature is not supported. Again, not a deal breaker, just kind of annoying. All other features of emclient have been fantastic so far. Give it a try. It's far and away better than thunderbird, especially if you use gmail.
