    March 12, 2014  |   By mickwest1

    Version: eM Client 6.0.19714

    Pros

loads of functions and options - nice interface

    Cons

NO - threaded view (??) - and a bit bloated - slow to load

    Summary

I'm still looking for a good email program. Without a thread view this one is a no go for me.
Becky is the best I've found so far - but it's fiddly to get set up correctly

    "Prefer this to Outlook"

    February 27, 2014  |   By lost_lazonga

    Version: eM Client 6.0.19714

    Pros

    Designed for a business use
    Faster than Outlook
    No

    Cons

Missing a few small mail / calender intergeneration functions but nothing critical

    Summary

As a Project Leader for 20 years Outlook had become part of my work life, some get this and some don't. Now on a break I was looking for a off-line reader for Gmail.
Used the popular options including Office 365 each for a month. Non seemed to work and most were missing the contact, calender, email intergeneration that Outlook in a corp setting provided.
The people who designed eM Client had users like me in mind. So far it has been two months and no road blocks that I could not work around.

"Simple to use & does everything I need it to"

    January 28, 2014  |   By mavql

    Version: eM Client 6.0.19714

    Pros

Looks familiar - ie cross between outlook & gmail
Not too may options to confuse non-IT-literates
    Very clear layout
    Very easy to setup accounts

    Cons

None that I've found so far

    Summary

Whilst outlook is great when you are looking for a client with lots of options, sometimes a user (my grandfather) needs a much simpler approach. The in-built windows 8 "Mail" app is too simple, there are not enough user options. this is the perfect medium.

It has a very clear layout so hopefully he won't be able to click in the wrong place and make things "happen" or "disappear" as often as with outlook.

He has a single email account which was very easy to set up - it's an IMAP account based on gmail so has linked up perfectly, and even syncs his contacts & calendar.

Can't fault this - gutted I didn't discover it earlier!

    "GREAT PRODUCT ACTUALLY. BUT!"

    January 16, 2014  |   By D8UKNOW

    Version: eM Client 5.0.17595

    Pros

SUPERIOR EMAIL!! Technically-strong features that work. 'Overall' visual- Superior to most. Works fast, Efficient. EASY to config. BUT!

    Cons

For ALL that it is technically, just CANNOT/WILL NOT rate as superior for one reason: The COMPANY behind it. Deceptive MArketing Practices and truly lack of even 'basic' Sales team for Support, MArketing. e.g., Needs a License to run 'FREE'?!! And what happens after that year -after ur vested in that Product? Shuts down unless u buy? GOTCHA!!! I think so, yet NEVER got a response back -after several emails to several different addresses. Finally realized: THYE DONT CARE!!! Combined with other markteing/support probs tell me "STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!"

    Summary

While I Rate the Product itself SUPERIOR -it could easily become #1 Email in the Country if not for the Company behind it. My suggestion to them: Keep up the good work on the email side. FIRE the President -get one that understands the vlaue of basic marketing/support -FREE r not!

PS: Surprised DOWNLOAD.COM never mentioned any of this in their own critique, as its certainly relevant.

    "Good but far from perfect"

    December 28, 2013  |   By mb208

    Version: eM Client 5.0.17595

    Pros

Clean quick installation. Groups emails into neat categories. Customisable. Low memory useage.

    Cons

Couldn't open html links in my default browser (kept getting error messages). I have had to prevent it being my default email client because of this. No choice when it comes to changing notification sounds or pop-up templates.

    Summary

A good email client, but needs further work.

    Pros

After reading few reviews I try to give it a shot. Here is what I learn ( I mark with numbers 10 best 1 worst ):

    Cons

    See summary

    Summary

    - Setup: 8
    - Design interface: 5
    - interface Interaction: 5
    - Setup Google Calendar: 8
    - Settings: 6
    - Backup: 6
    - Change Backup settings: 2
    - Futures: 4
    - Team support: 5
    - Team Support Adaptability: 5 ( read http://forum.emclient.com/emclient )

I know that reviews are subjective to human interest and preference.
We spend $50 to comeback to Thunderbird. Probably well money spend.

"Good, but very slow database fix if computer crashes"

    December 20, 2013  |   By cesarinternational

    Version: eM Client 5.0.17595

    Pros

The interface is well distributed, organized, pleasing to use and work with. The program works well. It provides the ability of chatting with your contacts in a separate window and saving the chats. I recommend Mozilla Thunderbird as the first choice for email (excellent performance and no adversisements) and second Incredimail (this one has advertising, but allows for many email accounts). eM Client as the third or fourth choice.

    Cons

Major drawback is that if the computer is turned off unexpectedly, if the application is closed improperly then it runs an utility that checks for errors in its database, the consistency of the data. The problem is that it is very time consuming: it could take an hour or more and the computer then runs very slow while the utility runs. You can close the utility, but then you will probably not have access to the email program (I always let the utility run), to your emails.

Another major drawback is that the free version limits you to a maximum of two email accounts.

    Summary

Good if you have a maximum of two email account and do not intend to get more. Good if your computer hardly crashes and you do not have problems that turn off the computer unexpectedly or you do not get many emails, do not have large number of emails in the account that will slow down data recovery if the computer crashes.

    "Free OK but Pro worthless"

    September 19, 2013  |   By elderone1

    Version: eM Client 5.0.17595

    Pros

    Creative interface to manage emails

    Cons

Pro does not permit more than two send accounts.
Pro could not set up more than three receive accounts
Enterprise support consists of one person, 10 time zones away.
Support person unable to address issues
On Win8 and AVG2014, it thinks connection is encrypted, which it confirmed not to be encrypted.
Thoroughly frustrating, and went back to old reliable Outlook

    Summary

The free version of eM Client may work for some people who do not have more than two email addresses. However, do not get sucked into buying what is advertised as the licensed "Pro" version. There is no evidence of increased functionality through paying for the "Pro" version. You just get a "deactivate-activate" button. I just got further insulted by getting, as a "valued user", an offer to upgrade to the Pro version including the promised free upgrade to version 6 all for half the price I just paid to buy my licensed Pro version! The support team consists of one person located 10 time-zones east of their Sunnyvale, California business address. Unless you enjoy staying up past 2:00 AM to exchange unhelpful emails, recognize that this so-called "enterprise" service does not service any enterprise. Furthermore, the fact that eM Client discovers your entire contact list, even on a new, bare computer without your input worries me. That is unlike MS Outlook, for which you have to import a private pst file to add your contacts.
