    "Good"

    September 08, 2006   |   By Divx

    Version: Not Found

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I spent about 2 hours downloading various items ( 3ivx, divx, divxdoctor, etc ). Nothing worked.

Then I found this and it played the video without a problem! ( xvid )

Obviously, I love the program, but it can definitely use some upgrades and bug fixes.

    "Awful Interface"

    December 26, 2004   |   By Knight_Ed

    Version: djoPlayer 3.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Well it interface wasn't really made very wellsuppoting very very few of mplayers real features.

There was no way to manually add an extra audio file from the interface nor add a subtitle file from the interface.

It was also missing quite a few other features such as a playlist, a get info window about the movie, a statsistics window about fps % of cpu used etc.., and no ability to manually add your own swtiches to the command line as need be.

As well he didn't use standard interface calls because it doesn't look proper unless you run it in aqua and that's just because of lazy programming.

Overall i Give this an F--. But its passable if you aren't doing anything other then just watching a video but quicktime can do that. Mplayer OSX 2 is better and its buggy. Atleast from the command line you dont have to deal with this crap.

But its good and stable and plays videos well because its mplayer and its free so i can't really complain yet.

    "a good alternative"

    November 17, 2004   |   By pdot

    Version: djoPlayer 3.4.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have been using djoPlayer more regularly now. I like MPlayer 2's interface and features, but it's still in beta and rather glitchy. Mplayer 1 is okay, but djoPlayer has a more pleasant interface. The only problem I have with djoPlayer is the volume control. Doesn't seem to work right. I think it's b/c mplayer defaults to max volume, but djoPlayer appears to default on min volume, although it is really the max volume. You have to play around with it to really know what I'm talking about.

This easily does exactly what it promises. Unlike so many free downloads.
My computer: 15 in powerbook G4.
Although I didn't need it, I didn't see any documentation, though.
    Nice job!

    "nice alternative, but missing features"

    December 05, 2003   |   By pdot

    Version: djoPlayer 3.4.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
As someone had already said, MPlayer OS X has the playlist option. Also, I find MPlayer 2's progress bar and time index very useful (which djoPlayer lacks). Another advantage that MPlayer has is the ability to set the cache and fix width of the video. Furthermore, MPlayer launches a bit faster. With all the complaints made, being able to set djoPlayer's post-processing is nice, although I have yet to make a proper comparison btwn the differences in video viewing quality. Also, I don't seem to notice much frame drops while using djoPlayer. Then again, I haven't played around much with MPlayer's cache size. In short, djoPlayer has potential but until there are more features, I'm going to stick with MPlayer OS X.

An interesting alternative to the mplayer gui for osx. I think I like mplayer's playlists better though... and the icon they used is ripped off.
