How to watch the presidential inauguration

Watch a live stream of Donald J. Trump's inaugural festivities on Friday.

If you want to watch the presidential inauguration this Friday, you have a choice: Try to get to Washington, DC, in time to catch Donald J. Trump's festivities, or stay at home, make a cup of tea, and stream the event live.

The swearing-in ceremony happens Friday, January 20, promptly at noon ET, but many news organizations will start their live streams early. CBSN (CBS News' online news service), for example, plans to begin coverage at 7 am ET on its website and apps (Android, iOS).

You can also catch the event live on YouTube. Bloomberg, CBS News, C-SPAN, NBC News, Telemundo, USA Today, and the Washington Post all plan to stream day-long coverage of the event.

If you are feeling social, Twitter will partner with the PBS NewsHour to offer a live stream from 11 am to 5 pm ET.

Prefer to watch some counterprogramming? The celebrity-filled Love-a-Thon is taking to Facebook Live for three hours to raise money for civil liberties groups. The broadcast starts at 12:30 pm ET.

If you plan to attend the inauguration in person, pack an umbrella: There's a chance of rain.
