There are ton of to-do-list and task management options in the iTunes App Store, but a longtime favorite for Android users was just released today for iOS, and it might be just what you're looking for to help you get things done.
Astrid for iPhone is a to-do-list and task management app that keeps the interface simple, but offers social elements that let you share tasks with friends and family in unique ways. You can add friends to shared tasks, for example, so planning a social event is an ideal use for Astrid. The app is organized with four buttons across the bottom for Lists, Tasks, Friends, and Activity.
Lists is where you'll navigate through your various to-do lists by category. Astrid comes with a few categories prepopulated like Home, Personal, Public, and Shopping, but you can add categories of your own by hitting the plus sign at the top of the screen.
The Tasks button brings up list details where you can add tasks, assign friends and family-shared tasks, and several other options. Once a task is added you have the option to set a date and time that the task needs to be done, and you can add it to your calender. From there you can set task priority, make comments and add specifics (great for shared tasks), and share with Facebook or Twitter or through e-mail. Friends and family can comment on tasks if they have more questions or are unable to help. If you want to get really descriptive, you also have the option to add photos or voice messages to a task so all the info is handy.
The Friends button lets you add friends and family through Facebook or via e-mail. Once someone is added, you'll be able to send that person a task with description in only a couple of minutes. The interesting thing about the layout of the app is that Astrid lets you drill down to the finer details if need be, but keeps it simple on top for quick tasks and easy management.
When you want to check in on current tasks, touch the Activity button. Here is where you'll monitor which tasks have been finished and the status of others. As with many iPhone apps, you can pull down from the top of the screen to update the latest activity on your lists.
Astrid was released today for iOS users and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store for free. Already with 2.5 million downloads on Android and an easy way to link up with people via Facebook or e-mail, this app makes it a snap to get connected and start sharing tasks in only a few simple steps. With an interface that is dead simple, and the option to add as much or as little info as you want for each task, we think Astrid makes a great addition to the iOS productivity category.
