"Blocked almost all internet access"

None that I saw.
Cons
After installing (OS 10.6.8), I was unable to access almost all internet sites. The "uninstaller" that was included caused my computer to crash repeatedly, and I finally had to resort to brute force deletion.
Summary
Be extremely cautious when installing this software.

Summary
Don't download here or you will have the same problems mentioned in other reviews about avast blocking internet access. I to encountered this problem. I unistalled it and then downloaded from the avast website and haven't had any problems since then.

none this program didnt work so i removed it as soon as i could

slowed down my system as soon as installed it. Blocked my internet from working at all. Asks you to install Growl on every start up and it took me a bit of time to figure out how to remove growl completely in the first place!
Summary
I was a big fan of Avast on Windows so i thought i would give the mac version a try. Boy was i pissed that i did that! It disabled me from getting on the internet even though the Mac internet assistant said everything was green and i had access to the internet. It was a pain in the butt to try and remove the program once i didn't work right also. Save yourself a headache and skip this. It also slowed my system down like i had some sort of virus on my computer. I am using a Macbook Pro 2010 with OSX Lion, 8GB of memory.

Lightweight doesn't suck your ram at all.Regarding finding any virus i can't tell you as ive made a completely fresh install of my system.I know avast from windows and if it is anything like it then you are on to a winner.
Cons
Extremely irritating and annoying pop ups to install growl everytime i open it please remove it :( four stars for that reason sorry lads.
Summary
I hope they update it on a regular basis and do not leave it to gather dust :)

None whatsoever.
Summary
I used to use Avast! when I was a PC user and, having graduated to Mac, was concerned to see how little antivirus software was available. I was, therefore, delighted to see this appear and heartily recommend it to all.
