"DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS"
Pros: free and nothing else
Cons: It screws up your computer and now I am trying to fix it

Exactly how did it "screw up" your's? If you can elaborate maybe some of us can be of help now that you're "trying to fix it"?
Saying "NEVER DOWNLOAD IT" may make you feel better in the short term, but it hardly helps anyone else!;)

Hello! I find your summary very unclear. How does Avast screw up your computer? Maybe your computer already has viruses on it, and Avast wants to unintall them, then freezes your computer. Just give Avast one more try. People have used Avast for years and no problems.
