"This thing is AWESOME!"
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1327
Pros

Summary
This is a fantastic tool that is free of charge to us. I have McAfee on my computer and scanned this before I opened it up. Always save your new installs to you desktop and scan then before you open them up! McAfee has no problem with this software.
You have to really pay attention when you are installing the program as it offers you several different things to install or sign you up for as you click the necessary buttons to install it. But if you will simply read the statement you have to accept before you can even try to install it on you pc.. it tells you plainly it is all in there and how to avoid getting it put on your computer.
YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT YOU INSTALL ON YOUR PC SOMETIMES FOLKS! TAKE YOUR TIME AND READ WHAT YOUR CLICKING TO ACCEPT PEOPLE! THIS IS A FREE SOFTWARE, AND YES, THEY WILL TRY TO SELL US SOMETHING FROM THEIR SPONSORS IF THEY CAN! -
"awesome!!!"
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1324
Pros
I've tried dozens of programs and this one is the best.
The screen capture feature is cool for videos you can't grab any other way. With my setup I have to run the line out back into the line in for sound but it works (for the screen capture).Cons
can't think of any

"Really good"
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1324
Pros
You can convert to pretty much any format.
Grab streaming video.
Download videos for later.
Just download the mp3 of the video, etc.
Record the screen or selected area.
Comes with a mp3 downloader that allows you to get about any mp3 you want.Cons
Whenever there's an update it doesn't remember your settings, like what folder you want the downloaded file to go to, and you have to set that again.
The screen after download a file has an check box option that allows you to never see it again, but it doesn't work.
No major problems. -

"aTube Catcher is a very useful, but has a lot of cons."
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1264
Pros
* reliably downloads videos from YouTube et al
* allows download queuingCons
* reinstall erases user settings
* mangles videos titles that contain non-Latin and forbidden characters
* third-party software/settings clandestinely installed
* difficult to updateSummary
Pros:
aTube Catcher reliably gets the job done when it comes to downloading videos from YouTube. You can get an HD version of a video without a format conversion and queue videos for download while away. (I use this program despite all of the cons mentioned below.)
Cons:
Every reinstall resets user settings; if you regularly update aTube Catcher you will find yourself routinely having to restore your settings. These include repeatedly instructing aTube Catcher to:
* not do a video format conversion.
* remember the last video format used.
* download HD versions of YouTube videos.
* disable the action window that appears after a video download has completed.
* save videos in a specified directory. You have to perform this action twice since there is a default download directory in the settings dialog, but changing that does not change the directory on the download screen.
The program does not appear to be Unicode-aware. Non-supported characters, such as Asian ideographs and most operating system-forbidden characters, simply vanish from file names (which are named after videos). This behavior can make it hard to identify which video is which when most or all of a video title is not used for the file name and necessitates keeping video pages open/bookmarked in the browser to obtain the video title if you use a video name-based file organization scheme.
This program installs third-party software without your consent (Ask.com toolbar) if you download from the developer's home page. This must be uninstalled via the Windows Control Panel.
Options to decline the toolbar were present in older versions of the developer's installer, but now only appear in the CNET installer. Even after declining, your Internet Explorer home page is changed to Ask.com even when protected with another program (such as SpywareBlaster) and must be changed back from within the browser. The CNET installer asks to install several additional pieces of third-party-ware in a somewhat deceptive manner. The CNET installer also does not save the downloaded installer file in a straightforward way; you must decline installation after download completion to get the file to appear.
Additionally, the developer doesn't make clear what versions of the software are available through its site and third party download hosts linked from it. Sometimes the version numbers on that site are simply wrong. The "Search updates" facility within the program itself is also less reliable than CNET TechTracker. CNET now seems to be the developer's preferred place to post the latest version of the software. -
"Good product"
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1253
Pros
Does everything they say. Have used it for years. Keeps getting better.
Cons
Comes with "free" crap. Be sure to uncheck everything and use custom install to avoid toolbars etc. You also have to uninstall some weird thing called yoohoo or something stupid like that.
Summary
Well worth using minus the adware.

"Congressional B.S."
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1253
Pros
True to their word, they deliver working application.
Cons
Too many software designers are like Congress. If they call it a free, look out for the hooks. No handout ever cost a congresman a dime and some software designers are more interested in worming into our lives than the goose bumps they offer with some easy-to-use, gotta-have freebie.
Summary
Never spend a dime or allow the presence of anyone/anything that STEALS your bandwidth, internet data allotment, computer resources, including space on hard drives with the excuse you're getting it "free." Don't reward thieves when they dangle fool's gold in your face... or real gold for that matter.

"works great if you pay attention"
Version: aTube Catcher 2.9.1169
Pros
I download in native uncompressed format, so I can play back the video files without additional loss. Atube is great for this
Cons
PAY ATTENTION when you install AtubeCatcher. It shows several screens asking permission to install Ask.com toolbar and a bunch of other junk. If you don't want it, simply click No or Skip, don't complain about it, do something about it. Pay attention!
