Publisher's description of ZoneAlarm 6.5.722
From ZoneAlarm:ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet. Version 6.5.722 removes McAfee installation gate and fixes an update problem with LastWriteTime.
Note:ZoneAlarm is free for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions).

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.722
"1475 intrusions blocked, 8 high rated, get it? A real must."
Pros: This program not only will show you how many intrusions were blocked but rate them and provide you with the utmost control of who, what, when and where your computer is being accessed. I have found the quote on quote annoying pop-ups providing verification for programs very informative and you can also customize what and how many notifications you will see. You'll also find an exact list of programs that are accessing the computer and what zones they are accessing such as intranets or internet zones AND you can specifically configure what programs correspond to specific zones. You can delete a program from the list that is no longer on your computer and the most important quality of this firewall is its effectiveness. If you are paranoid about spyware on your computer that you just cannot detect or remove, it won't be able to acess the internet without your approval once you've installed this firewall. I installed this firewall on my friends computer and his performance sky-rocketed! I have not noticed any degradation in performance and with Netzero 3G the dial-up is not slowed or compromised. Ultimately, this program is a must for the anyone concerned about security. Antivirus/spyware protection is not enough, this solid firewall will add the extra punch against the malicious. Add to your watch list, this one is free, free, free!! Just be ready for a real eye opener compared to Micro-SOFTY firewall to this wonder of a tool. Oh, I forgot to mention, these developers address any problems ultrafast. This may be a little frustrating but assess how much the next release fixes and if you're being affected that you must endure the dial up download times. Regardless, worth the download by all means.

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.722
"Quick upgrade from last release--works well still"
Pros: Is very easy to use, and does it's job. Seems like a quick fix and the notes say it was due to a bug with CPU usage being excessive. I never experienced it on it.
Cons: Antivirus monitoring isn't free, however even when it was AVG Antivirus isn't detected. AVG is good enough and by golly 30 million users worldwide demands it be detectable with ZA.

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.722
"just the best.....beat netveda and the rest.."
Pros: this is the best..after testing a few diff ones. i found zonealarm is still the best.. it def beats netveda so i take my netveda ratings back..the only other firewall that seems to be competition is sygate and it seems not to be free..so just use zone alarm along with avira antivir and adaware and windows defender or spycather.
Cons: none

Version: ZoneAlarm 6.5.722
Pros: Easy to install and uninstall. No internet connection problems after uninstall (Google search: "zonealarm uninstall problems" for complete uninstall). ZoneAlarm protect you against all attacks, reports these attacks and is Designed For Microsoft XP. No interfering with other software. Better than Sygate Personal Firewall because it blocks more attacks and all ports are stealthed with both firewalls. I rather use ZoneAlarm than Windows XP Firewall, because ZoneAlarm controls also outgoing traffic. I am very satisfied with ZoneAlarm. You can change access allow or access block of programs, so there is no need to install ZoneAlarm again if you make a mistake in a alert.
