"latest verson caused to many false positives for virus"
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 9.1.008
Pros
Great firwallt.
Cons
Used to be great but now it cause problems with programs like powerdvd and clonedvd and they seem to not be in an rush to fix it.
Summary
Its antivirus causes problems with many programs such as powerdvd. It says they have the RarePacker.Multi.Generic virus when they do not. It also slows down the burnng of cd or dvds so nero or clonedvd will give you a error. All they say is they are working on it.

"Very Effective"
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 9.0.083
Pros
Effective on viruses and spyware. Permits extensive control over individual programs actions on your system and their interface with the internet. Takes some work to get the most out of the built in features.
Cons
Forcefield component needs work. Can block all internet functions. not for someone looking for a generic "do-it-without-thinking-about-it" antivirus program. Takes some work to get the most out of the built in features.
Summary
I have used ZoneAlarm for many years now. I have had fabulous success with it. I have cleaned up friends computers with over 200 viruses and nasty, stubborn trojan's without problem. It does take some work to get all of the setting the way you like. Not from the "Big Name" companies (like Norton) which the hackers can easily break their code and bypass the security of your system.

"Works, but at price of system performance"
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 8.02
Pros
Easy to use and setup, updates regularly and seems vigilant. Good help files and easy to understand instructions, menus and settings.
Cons
Really uses a lot of resources and seems to be slower than many other Virus scanners when scanning system. This may be because it is being heuristically thorough which is a good thing -- or just using too many resources which is a bad thing.
Summary
Well worth using this product instead of tricky hogs like Norton or McAfee, Sophos or other bloated AV products. however, there are products with a "smaller footprint" resource wise that update frequently, have great real time protection and use less resources -- such as Avast, AVG, Kaspersky Labs (not free, I know), BitDefender (slow), or Avira. Compare a few and choose which you prefer. This is a good quality product at any rate and deserving of a look and see comparison test. You may love the easy to use interface...which is less confusing than Avast's traditional iconic oddness.

"Efficient, secure firewall with Kaspersky av"
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 7.0.483
Pros
Light enough to work well on an 8 year old Windows 2000 laptop w/256mb RAM, updates and scans efficiently, very customizable, has hourly av updates. Haven't tried version 8 yet, but it's supposedly even more efficient..also very inexpensive!
Cons
No antispy, but there are many fill-ins for that, try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware..excellent..ZA AV does slow boot time a bit, but no more than Avast 4.8, another excellent and "light" av..
Summary
Effiecient, light, inexpensive, just add a good antispy app.

Cons
None to comment on.

"Been using ZoneAlarm for two months without incident."
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 8.02
Pros
In addition to satisfactory virus and spyware protection, it also provides an excellent spam filter capability.
Cons
Using ZoneAlarm on WinXP Pro laptop, WinXP Home HP Desktop and Win Vista Ultimate HP Desktop and all three machines individually take 13 minutes to shutdown with ZoneAlarm Anti-Virus activated.
Summary
Have used Win Live OneCare, Symantic, McAfee and now ZoneAlarm for the second time. All have done the job that was expected. For now my preference is ZoneAlarm even though it takes 13 minutes for my computer to shutdown. The anti-spam capability works exceedingly well for me.

"CRAPPPP!!!!!"
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 7
Pros
Nothing. Kaspersky is the best.
Cons
Does not stop most of the viruses and crap I tested it with.
Takes up a lot of mem and you cant disable automatic scan without constant alerts.
The interface needs a few makeovers.

"Best All-In-One Anti-Virus & Spyware"
Version: ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall 7
Pros
I have used McAfee, Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0, Kaspersky, and many others for testing to detect Anti-Virus files and Spyware, and none compare to Zone Alarm Security Suite.
You do need at least 2 GB of RAM to run the full verison of Zone Alarm Security Suite, without having it bogging down other programs on your computer. So Yes it is a memory hog, but for a good reason. Overall it will use around 128 MB of RAM, but again like I said, you will not be dissappointed.
Zone Alarm is made by the Security company Check Point based in Tel Aviv Israel. Check Point has been making the Best firewalls for the past 16 years and they are not going away anytime soon. So tell me, why would you not want your computer protected by Zone Alarm made by the #1 Security firewall company in the world?
