    "CPU Gobbling Nightmare"

    Gobbles CPU at an insane rate after spending an hour or so online

    Summary

    One of the most disappointing software versions ever. In fact, after years of using CNet.com, this software was so bad that I registered just to post this review.

    This version of ZoneAlarm has a well known issue of consuming an insane amount of computer CPU memory and slowing systems to almost a halt after 1-2 hours of intense internet activity.

    Unless you are a very casual internet user, I would definitely not recommend using this.

    539,472 K Mem Usage after 35 minutes online.

    The official response from ZoneAlarm support is that the software is "working as intended". Perhaps they have a different view, but for me having a 'safe' computer is worth zip if it slows things down so much that any online applications become virtually unusable.

    My PC has been running for at least two days online. I just opened "Task Manager" and checked running processes and my PC is running at 96% "System Idle Process", that means my system is only being taxed by 4%. I'm running the latest ZA Free just as you are (I'm assuming)?

    You may want to check and see exactly what is eating up your resources, maybe Virus or Maleware related???
