"Do not upgrade of the new version of Zone Alarm!"

    June 13, 2012  |   By zyquitox

I used a website that will scan your computer for open ports for free, the wesite reported that all my ports were closed with the new version of Zone Alarm. Google GRC to find it.

The new version of Zone Alarm took away important features. It now controls "automatically" what it sent to a Internet location. In the old version you could specify on every program if it was allowed to send information out of your computer to the Internet. In the new version, it may be possible that if your computer is infected with a Trojan, you could not stop it sends out. Also, I noticed that there was no log of attacks to your firewall or what was allowed to exit to the Internet . I want to know this information. The worst of all was that the new Zone Alarm version brought my C:\ drive to it's knees. After installation, all applications took up to 2 minutes to load. After I de-installed the new version and installed a old version, my computer worked fine.

I strongly encourage everyone to not upgrade to the newest version of Zone Alarm and instead seek out a alternative free Free Firewall. One can be easily found using the search feature of this site. Just search for "Free Firewall"
Everything stated in this review is strictly my own opinions and experiences that may not be true for you.
