"Would rate with 0 stares but won't let me."

    March 25, 2014  |   By midnightsail

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

No pros! Can not save to my iMac, Old version was great no complaints with it.

    Cons

No pros! Can not save to my iMac Old version was great no complaints with it.

    Summary

New Zino should work for iMac before Zino releases it to public. Zino wants me to do way to much work to get it to work on Mack book pro. Fix it or i will quit Zino. Give me back the old version worked perfect for years. This is my opinion as to how this product does not work for me as previous version did.

    "Way too many flaws"

    September 25, 2013  |   By harleyquinn23

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

If your local library has an account you can access few magazines. When the viewing interface works does its job well, but it is not often.

    Cons

Slow, Errors, it doesn't save your favorites, Loading Errors, The "apps" and the website do not sync right. Difficult to use on multiple platforms

    Summary

It doesn't work well. It can take hours for a magazine to load. There are a lot of errors and bugs. My biggest gripe is that the bookmark and clip features just do not work. The clip option needs to be redesigned and sometimes it zooms in really close and it won't let you drag a box (think of the cheap crop tool on Paint minus the little dashed box) And if it isn't what you wanted instead of having the option to reformat the box you have to cancel and restart. When it does work 90% of the time it won't sync with your favorites and it never ends up saving. This happens with bookmarks as well. The computer "app" is so slow. And it never works on my iPhone because it takes to so long to load. Also the website doesn't show the over 50 magazines I have so I can't even read them online (which is the only way on my Tablet). They keep tossing us 5 dollar vouchers almost weekly in hopes of keeping you in, if you can't view the free magazines no way anyone will want to pay for them. I signed up to be able to read them on my tablet and save things like recipes but both these features do no work. My library has a large selection of free magazines and the off chance I want to flip through a magazine I can on my computer.

    "Abysmal, sad"

    September 24, 2013  |   By Terrorhorse

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

    None whatsoever

    Cons

Fail, management and app developers seem to be in a fog.

    Summary

Today, after emailing Zinio support re failure of the iPad Zinio app - losing all my magazines forcing me to re-download them all, I received this reply:

    Hello,

I am sorry, but it sounds like you will have to re-download the issues. We are not sure why this happen, but as with all technology based products, things happen without a reason. We also suggest downloading on a Wifi source, as some users can not fully download issues while on a cellular service. I am sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused you.

    end of quote.

    "things happen without a reason"!!!!!!
    Really?

I've cancelled my subs with this company.
I'll be calling Apple, this just isn't good enough.

Meanwhile I highly recommend a subscription to Scientific American, you can get it as a PDF and a sub will give you access to all digital issues since 1093. Thats what I call service and top user access.

Zinio needs to find a new developer and shake up its management.

"Zinio Reader phones home to Google Analytics"

    June 3, 2013  |   By zunipus

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

    skip skip skip

    Cons

Zineo Reader phones home to Google Analytics

    Summary

Zinio Reader phones home to Google Analytics.

The only reason to do so to my knowledge is to allow Google surveillance of my computer behavior. If your app is going to surveil my computer use, then ASK MY PERMISSION FIRST, DAMMIT. I have used my reverse firewall Little Snitch to deny Zinio Reader access to Google Analytics forever. I suggest other folks with reverse firewalls consider doing the same.

    "Absolute rubbish"

    December 17, 2012  |   By Screen58

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

    None whatsoever

    Cons

Everything about it - it's a waste of time, money, disk space and processing power.

    Summary

I bought a magazine (back issue) from Zinio, thinking I would install the reader and read the mag. What a waste of disk space and my time. I'm using it on my PC and it simply will not download the magazine from my Zinio account. That's the first and last time I will be buying anything from Zinio. Hope you're reading this Zinio, because you guys really need to get your sh*t together...

    "Abysmal piece of crap"

    December 15, 2012  |   By Pete_3D

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

    None at all

    Cons

I am trying to use it on desktop PC and nothing but problems, and today is not working at all.

    Summary

I give this product the worst possible rating. I've been using, but that's not really the right word, Zinio for over a year. I see so many complaints about in in reviews, and my experiences are the same. Keep well clear of it.

    "Terrible! Frustrating!"

    August 28, 2012  |   By rogerdee123

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

    Decent magazine selection

Maybe it works better on an iPad ?

    Cons

It crashes on my Mac Pro (6 core, 3.33Ghz, 32GB) about every 6 weeks requiring trashing all the files (including all the downloaded mags) and then reloading everything again. Many MB's of magazines must be downloaded again and again. I've done this close to a dozen times over the past 18 months. This happens over and over and over again and again. I think it may work better on the iPad but forget it with a desktop Mac. Zinio needs to learn how to write Mac software. This is obviously a MS Windows focused company. This problem with Macs has been going on since Reader 4 was introduced and Zinio does nothing to fix it. They only advise us to trash our "downloaded" magazines and reload them again.

    Summary

I also have Kindle. It works like a charm including Kindle for Mac. However Kindle doesn't have a very good selection of magazines available. Can someone please suggest an alternative to Zinio.

I would rate Zinio for Mac at zero stars if this web page would allow it.

    "ABSOLUTE CRAP!"

    August 20, 2012  |   By Clothdollmaker

    Version: Zinio Reader 4.0

    Pros

    Absolutely NONE!

    Cons

    Where do I begin?

    Summary

If you update, you lose ALL your magazines, most of what I purchase I cannot read on my iPad even tho there is an app for it. LEAVE THIS ALONE! I hate killing trees, but this is so frustrating, I'm going back to hard copies.
