"Good video editing and slideshow program...with caveats"
Pros
Hi quality video output!
This program generated an excellent quality mp4 video in 16x9 aspect ratio. HD, however, is reserved for upgraded versions.
Lots of video transition effects, can import lots of video, image, and audio formats, insert text, and have video or image overlay boxes over other images (neat feature, though I didn't use it).Cons
No undo function. Tiny timeline that appears impossible to expand / zoom in horizontally. Wipe icons do not match the actual wipe effects. Asian-flavored English tags and instructions are difficult to decipher, even for someone with some skill at that (at a guess, I think the translation was done by a Japanese person). A better translator is needed.
Summary
Several gripes there, but basically, if you can get your head around the odd user interface and find enough satisfactory transition effects, you have a nice editor here, which is geared more toward video editing than slideshow creation, but nevertheless is quite useful for both. Even though you have hundreds of transition effects to choose from, they are mislabeled or difficult to identify, and many are kind of cheezy. But the program has some pretty neat capabilities, and as stated above, can generate high quality video files of your edited material or slideshows in 4x3 or 16x9 aspect ratios. For HD, upgrade to the $29.99 or $49.99 versions. I had already installed an XVID codec, so that's something that may be required for the superior video file - I'm not sure.
