"This is how to write software"
Version: You Control: Tunes 1.7.2 b2
Summary

This is a very powerful and completely unobtrusive piece of software. As good as iTunes is, this quick launch tool makes it 10 times better. Great job; off to look at other software by this developer. -
"Excellent! Just what I was looking for!"
Version: You Control: Tunes 1.7.1
Pros
Very clean, customizable and simple. It is comparable to other similar products for which you must pay.The pull-down menu from the menu bar means that you can easily change songs from within full-screen programs which is a huge selling point for me.
Cons
When the song ticker is running you cannot see the operational buttons without rolling your mouse over the menu bar.
Summary
It adds buttons on your menu bar from which you can play, pause, go forward and go back as well as rate the songs! There is also a song ticker that you may turn on and off in your menu bar which is useful if you don't feel like having the big notifier pop up on your screen. You can customize the button style and there is also a great variety of styles/positions for the little pop-up song notifier. The big thing that I enjoy about this app is the pull-down song menu that allows you to change songs or albums without having to open the main itunes window.

This is great! I've just started using it so don't know of any stability issues. Was using GimmeSomeTunes and this is far superior. The drop-down menu gives all the info you could ever want. Love the choice of icons in the menu. I need orange. :-) It fits right in with iTunes 8. -
"a really outstanding little program"
Version: You Control: Tunes 1.7

I have paid for and donated to several other itunes control programs. This one does all of the good things and none of the bad things the other programs did. And it is free and better on just about every count. Highly recommended.
The developer might want to consider adding a transparency preference for the overlay. But that's a quibble. -
"Look ... it's awesome!"

I have been using Synergy for a while. I liked it, but then we moved to a different version and it's not worked well with displaying cover art since.
This program rocks! Simple to set up and use and YOU CONTROL everything! It is awesome!
I never write these reviews ... but this one I could not pass up! You won't be able to either. Get it now. -
"Can't imagine it being any better"
Version: You Control: Tunes 1.6.1
Pros
Juast the job. When your working with another program you dont want to be stopping all the time. Or when your mum shouts upstairs you have to turn the volume down 'cos' she never shouts loud enough.

Many, many thanks to the developer for implementing the feature I mentioned below - now iTunes is being opened in "Hide" mode. -
"Fantastic!!!"

This app is the best! Controls your iTunes from the menubar with awesome dropdown menus that display your entire iTunes library (including artwork)! No more having to hide/unhide iTunes to change music or view your library, playlists, etc...just simple scrolling down from the menubar. And, it's free (thank you developer)!!! (OS 10.4.11) -
