    "I know it's a beta"

    Version: You Control: Fonts 1.2b2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
    But it's still pretty bad.
I tried it with Notebook, and it's still incompatible.
I quit YCFb2, and then decided to give it a try with Mellel. I had to Force Quit YCFb2 twice. The second time was trickier since it kept disappearing from Activity Monitor.
Now YCFb2 won't launch properly, so I'll pass on testing it with Mellel. I just used Application Wizard to quit the You Control Fonts Engine.
One consolation star since the Menu did display my fonts properly once.
I really want to like this program, as well as You Control. After all, I already purchased them. Unfortunately those purchases were a waste of money and time.

    "It works pretty well"

    January 5, 2005  |   By WhiteDog

    Version: You Control: Fonts 1.1.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
FontSight only works with Cocoa apps, not with Photoshop and Quark. In this and some other respects You Control: Fonts is superior. It doesn't change some fonts in Photoshop as it should, but just having a WYSIWYG font menu there is a big improvement. Why you get native support for WYSIWYG fonts in Adobe Illustrator but not in Photoshop or InDesign is a puzzle to me. And, since I use InDesign more than Quark, I tested YCF in InDesign and found it works there, too, even though InDesign isn't listed as a supported app. If it continues to perform reasonably well during the trial period I will not hesitate to pay for it.

A one-trick-pony that doesn't perform the trick too well. It seems more apps are not supported than are. Don't bother contacting them for support. They do not reply. Ever!

I just bought You Control:Fonts - this kicks butt. I love You Control, but with this new product You Control:Fonts - it completes the package. This company is going places. I recommend this product to everyone. If you buy it before July 31, 2004 (I think) and you use coupon code YOUSOFTWARE it's only like 9.95. It's a steal.

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have just downloaded You Control :Fonts and wouid like to congratulate You Software. I am using it on a 17" Powerbook with Panther and Suitcase X1. To use Word 2004 and not to have to cope with an endless scrolling jumble of fonts is a revelation.

It would be nice if the new menu could either eliminate or replace the application font menu but I'm sure others have already thought of this.

    "Seems pretty good to me"

    Version: You Control: Fonts 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
It's great to see something that provides the same sort of facility as Menufonts did for OS 9 - something I've missed very much in OS X.

I've tried it with MS Word - so it does support Carbon applications - and Indesign. It works well and I've not found any conflicts with it yet. It would be nice if it could replace the font menu of the application it's being used with rather than setting up it's own menu on the right hand side of the screen, but hopefully this is the sort of improvement that will come with later upgrades.

Can't remember how much Menufonts cost, but I have a feeling that it was about the same price as this, so I don't think $20 is unreasonable.

    "Terrific"

    Version: You Control: Fonts 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I am not a computer whiz, so wondered if I would be able to make this program work with my other You Software program, YouControl. It was so easy and so flawless that even I was left in awe. And the program itself is fabulous. I used it with Microsoft Word yesterday and it worked like a charm. I love the You Software products because you don't have to be tech expert to figure out how to use them. When I did have two questions (one technical, one about registration), I got responses to both within the day. Terrific software, terrific support. Can't wait to see what they think of next!

"Very nice utility. Well worth it."

    Version: You Control: Fonts 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I downloaded this today and used it successfully with Photoshop CS and more importantly for me, Freehand MX & Flash MX. The Macromedia apps font menus have always frustrated me, so this is a welcome utility. Well worth $20 or $30.

The You:fonts menu is much faster than fontcard and seems to be working better for me. The feature set is pretty good for a 1.0, there's room for more features (but there always is for any app), but the big features are covered here for me (WYSIWYG & family grouping & small preview and it supports the bulk of my apps - Carbon & Cocoa).

    "Excellent product"

    Version: You Control: Fonts 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Excellent product. Have been using this all day with 2 programs which in the past have caused me nothing but trouble with fonts, Flash MX and Word X.

Flash MX and Word are almost impossible to use with many fonts installed. I have 500+ fonts (the entire FontFolio 9) installed and changing typefaces is a breeze in these apps.

I wish it would work with Photoshop 7, but maybe that will come with 1.1. I am definitely going to purchase this app as soon as the demo period is up and if there are no issues which arise.

Much better than fontcard or any other type application such as this. It works in all apps the very same way which I think is a huge plus. I hate the fact that most applications use their own way of displaying fonts, and most have no idea how to group them correctly.
