Version: Yahoo Messenger 8
"I agree there is some added JUNK, but overall its the same Yahoo IM we all love"
Pros: Its free.
It has a fresh interface which smokes AIM 5.9 and AIM Triton's in that department.
Supports filesending, photosharing, voice chat, etc.
Seems to be a bit more robust, allowing more connections behind firewalls and routers and such.
Cons: Includes optional Yahoo Toolbar. I think it has always included this. I just think they should remove it. Ill have to check to see if MSN tries to get you to install MSN toolbar, but I know AOL asks to install AOL Toolbar with AIM 5.9.
Comes with advertisement at the bottom of the main buddy list window. There is no option in the preferences to remove it. The only way to remove it is by modification of a registry entry...very simple.

It is still the awesome Yahoo IM client contrary to what everyone says on here. I really havent experienced any connection or speed issues associated with it. Yes, it does show a large memory footprint, but which OFFICIAL IM CLIENT doesnt? I say official because I am aware that there are non-official clients which have small memory footprints. I just love the photosharing features...and the cool interface. It is a winner. The only real negative is that AOL IM is such a dominant network in terms of the USA that great clients like Yahoo IM never really get the limelight here in the USA.

"It has been improved a lot a lot"
Pros: We don't compare messenger, because each of them has their own unique different features, been use ym for aboved 7 years i think, yahoo team did improved a lot in their messenger, due to many of my friends migrated to MSN lol, is a trend but doesnt mean ym not cool at all. It loads slow for some users cos of ym built nice interface, new appearance with new features.
To really enjoy YM you have to know install Plug-in in it. It's a freedom for you to choose which plugin you think you needed it. Otherwise delete it, i personally used ym to listening to musics, quite enjoy with it. No panic if you still havent installed YM in your desktop / laptop, just get a try and give them a fair comment.
Cons: I'd installed it in my old pc, honestly kinda slow for starting up loading lol
But i enjoy it in my office's pc hehe

Version: Yahoo Messenger 8.1.0.401
Pros: The new integration with Windows Live Messenger is very good! The plugins are very cool, Internet applications are being connected to information sources more efficiently. Also, the program improved the VoIP features, it now allows you to see how much you have in your Phone account.
Cons: The integration with Windows Live Messenger is not great, there are no "features" available. Also, it would be great if the program used less memory when running.

"Awesome program to chat with Friends!!!"
Pros: Chat with people from all over the world. Comes with Google tool bar (optional)
I Think its an awesome program to have! PM your favorite friends when there available and make new friends in chat room. Overall a good program to have fun with :)
Cons: Might make changes to your computer like change your default site you visit however, this is also optional you just have to read the installer. Chat rooms work sometimes so, if your trying to loggin be patient. Also note: some people can boot you off the chat room. And send a file to people does not work either. So, use email for that.
