    "Xyvos is a good antivirus."

    January 5, 2013  |   By AngStel

    Version: Xyvos Free Antivirus 1.5

    Pros

Xyvos is a good antivirus for those who understand how it works .
I'm amused to see some tests that show how the system is collapsed trying all sorts of malware, that any antivirus would fail .

    Cons

It should however better communication from Xyvos and maybe an update considering that the last one was in 2010 .

    Summary

A combination with WinPatrol can be a good solution for old computers.

"A clever bit of software that works perfectly!"

    June 20, 2011  |   By 1walpurgis

    Version: Xyvos Free Antivirus 1.5

    Pros

My computer starts & runs so much faster now and this A/V software has caught a few nasties trying to intrude and killed them dead! My computer is totally safe now.

    Cons

A scan facility would be nice, but that's not what this is designed for.

    Summary

It's had a couple of negative reviews from people who haven't really understood what this A/V is about. It requires the minimum of user input, it never needs updating, but now and then it will ask you whether you want to allow or block a change happening in your system or an application operating. If you aren't sure you just block it temporarily and Google the item to identify it, if it's safe, allow it next time, otherwise block it permanently, but this only occasional. You don't actually need a scan facility, just download the file, but don't install it, then once you are off the net, do a full scan with your old A/V before uninstalling it, then install Xyvos. You will need a separate anti-spyware application, Spyware Expert is good and free. Xyvos is only a tiny file and uses hardly any computer resources, as a result my computer starts up much faster and runs more quickly. Brilliant!

    "Not ready for prime time"

    December 16, 2010  |   By lanquihue

    Version: Xyvos Free Antivirus 1.5

    Pros

    I didn't like this product

    Cons

Interface was amateurish, I had no idea what it was actually doing.

    Summary

After install, it appeared as an icon in the taskbar, but didn't ask for any configuration. Clicking the icon brought me to the interface, but there wasn't even an option to do a manual scan. There was no sort of update that I could see, and in the few minutes that I had it running, it didn't seem to do anything. According to my firewall, it never asked for network access, either.

It's the kind of program that, once you uninstall it, the first thing you do is run a full virus scan.
