"Lousy software"
Version: XoftSpy SE Anti-Spyware 7.0
Pros
I can't think of anything good to say about this product
Cons
Adds nearly ten minutes to my PC boot time just to load the database.
Lousy quality control, tech support dept does not return emails. In short, a shoddy at best productSummary
Their support site doesn't respond to or acknowledge email other than an auto generated one. Just tried renewing my sub last week, update the key and good until date, but still get two nag screens a day asking me to renew it. Freshman college programmers can write better programs than this. Don't waste your time or money with it. I've uninstalled the product and will go to my bank in the morning and ask them to rescind my renewal payment.

"Rogue antivirus software"
Version: XoftSpy SE Anti-Spyware 7.0
Pros
absolutely none
Cons
Everything is bad form ParetoLogic. They are scammers and you will risk a lot giving them your credit card details. Also your computer will be more infected with XoftSpy than before.
Summary
This is a rogue. ParetoLogic is bad host/website listed on phHosts website and has bad opinions and ratings on Web Of Trust (WOT).
ParetoLogics are scammers who wants your money for their unusable, crappy software which make more harm than good for the PC. -
"Fast, Sexy, but Blind"
Version: XoftSpy SE Anti-Spyware 7.0
Pros
The best interface ever. PERIOD. The fastest scanner ever. PERIOD. There is a reason why there is a cheetah as a symbol. 130,000 files in 3 minutes! The best tracking cookie, data miner, adware, and minor spyware remover(paid version) ever.
Cons
Major spyware or worms are not found or removed. The database is small compared to Superantispyware or A-Squared, especially Webroot. There is no real-time shields of any kind in any version, free or paid. You must scan to remove.
Summary
The best interface ever cannot counteract the outdated protection. Spybot will shield you from what Xoftspy has to scan for. Superantispyware costs the same for the paid version but Super has shields included(much larger database as well) while Xoftspy does not. I LOVE THE INTERFACE AND LIGHTNING(understatement!) SCANNING SPEED BUT HATE NOT HAVING ANY REAL-TIME SHIELDS AND THE LACK OF RECOGNITION OF MAJOR TYPES OF INFECTION. Get Superantispyware and/or A-Squared. As much as I like Xoftspy's unmatched speed and looks, those two others I just mentioned are MUCH better, paid or free.
Wow! Bad press from other reviewers! I felt I should write an update due to XoftSpy's now rather large updates every Wednesday. It now recognizes about 415,000 processes instead of the 325,000 when I wrote my first review. It is still not ASquared or Superantispyware but that is a rather large improvement in a short time span. I do not find any malicious or spying type activity complained about by other reviewers of anything from Paretologic. I think it is simply consumers not knowing what to delete(Regcure) or how to properly set the program itself. West Coast Labs lists Paretologic Antivirus as "Checkmarked". I suppose West Coast Labs is fraudulent as well? It says in any cleaner or security program to "be careful to read before you delete anything". Maybe the "bottle-suckers" on this website should let their parents do reviews instead of them trashing decent programs because other "Gerber kids" said on some "Web of Trust", a non-professional program, that something is bad.
Updated on Dec 30, 2009
Updated on Feb 8, 2010It looks like they do what a lot of other companies are doing now. Delete old definitions and make room for newer ones. Xoftspyse got up to app. 475,000 definitions then dropped back down to now about 380,000. Windows Defender and Security Essentials do this as well. Older definitions may not get found. I find ClamAV or Dr. Web Cureit! to be good in the older defintions category. XoftSpySe is a good program that gets undue bad reviews from people who put too much faith in "community" programs like Web of Trust or Mcaffee Site Advisor. Comodo, even though they use Threatsense, pretty much agrees with me. Just because 100 people agree on something DOES NOT make it right or true which means these "community" programs are simply overrated and not that good, although not that bad either.
