Version: XnView 1.74
"Strong in its ability to convert file formats, weak in its ability to display"
Pros: Can read a huge number of picture file formats and convert them.
Cons: No installation program provided. When browsing pictures, there is no way to go to a specific picture. No manual reordering. You can't pan with the mouse. When viewing a picture in "full screen" mode, you can't pan, zoom, or go to any other picture without exiting that mode. No picture information is available. No captioning can be done. There are no transition effects. There is no audio ability. Printing a picture within the program is not possible.

When reading the Cons of Picman it sounds as if he writes about a program other than XnView. XnView does have a setup program. You can easily browse folders and images intuitively using an Explorer-like browser. And you can open image by double-clicking on them, then zoom it, cut it, ...
BTW: XnView 1.80 is out, and it's again better.
