Pros: This product makes adding ringtones to my phone very simple. I could do this all myself with itunes and audacity and bluetooth but with Xingtone I just pop is a CD and have a cool ringtone on my phone in minutes.
Cons: What? No ZERO star ratings. OK, then I give it a ONE.
I downloaded the trial, liked it and bought it. I was sent a serial number which displayed an "invalid" error message when I attempted to upgrade the software to the paid version. Despite NUMEROUS attempts to contact Xingtone all I have gotten back in the past two weeks is ONE form email saying they got my support request and another canned response culled from the FAQ which I had already read.
Xingtone is the poster child for bad customer service from technology companies. There web site is basically a brick wall. The only way in is a web-based form. You can't speak to a real person. They won't call you (even though they have your cell phone). Their e-mail replies are canned, auto-gen responses.
At this point I am out $20 bucks and am forced to file a chargeback request with my credit company to get that back.
If you are willing to wager $20 that the product will work flawlessly then go for it. Otherwise, STEER CLEAR.
PS, I had to laugh when I saw the COO of Xingtone posted a response to previous criticism - that Xingtone has "tremendous customer support". What a hoot!
Then there is this whopper from the COO:
"We guarantee a 24 hour customer support response."
Ha!!!! I guess by that they mean that within 24 hour you will get an auto-gen email that reads "This is an automatic acknowledgement to let you know that we have received your inquiry. There is no need to reply to this email."
Or maybe they mean they will give you a "response" that does not resolve the problem and no way to indicate to them that the response did not resolve the problem. Basically, here is AN ANSWER to your email. If that helps great otherwise tough luck buddy!
If you go to Google and search "trouble with Xington" you can easily find my blog post at The National Debate.
