"AVCHD - sound lag - use bigasoft"
Pros
well I must admit, features are great, although not unique in its category. Good software.
Cons
In spite of the above, I have to say that I am dissatisfied with the product the reason being that all I downloaded the program for was to convert an AVCHD video (an m2ts file from my panasonic camcorder) to any other format with a smaller size. I used the full version (not the trial), the video was only 2,5 minutes long, cropped fine, however there was a build-up of sound lag, after about 1 minute the sound was about 3 seconds behind. Tried several times, different file formats in different categories, reinstalled, tried the trial version as well, same result over and over again. Unacceptable.
Summary
Not sure if the same happens if you try to convert from a different format - I didn't try. But I tried many other software after this fail - ashampoo, total media, quick media, and some others - no luck. Only one software worked in the end, one that has just as many features as xilisoft. Bigasoft AVCHD Converter. Although I don't understand the naming, it seems to be able to convert ANY vodeo format into anything else, as I can see from the drop-down menu. So why AVCHD? Never heard of this format before I got my camcorder. Probably the same software as bigasoft total video converter. Anyway, my guess is xilisoft will cause lag in any format, so bigasoft is your answer if you want to crop and convert (and trim and watermark and use other effects). Sorry xili, you need to sort out this lag issue pdq. type "bigasoft" on kat.ph

I have run into the audio lag problem before. I found the settings didn't match correctly. Example... The video was shot in 24p and the conversion was at 30 fps, etc. Same will be true even with 29.97 and 30 settings. Once I made sure the settings matched the camera video footage, the problem went away.
