"A replacement for the mess MSFT made of Explorer in W7"
Pros
Don't like the changes Microsoft made to Windows Explorer in Windows 7? Miss the way Explorer worked in XP? This product will allow you to be productive again. You can set up the interface to look just like XP with better search and more features.
Cons
Doesn't (yet) support "single click" for opening files in the right-hand pane (though it does support single click in the left-hand folder pane).
Summary
The author is *extremely* responsive and end user-focused. He answers email promptly and often responds with changes and requested features in just hours.
The fact that the product doesn't require installation and makes no registry changes (i.e., it can run portably from a download, USB stick, or CD) is what got me to try it.
The license terms are very generous: pay once and get unlimited upgrades and use it on unlimited machines. I ended up purchasing after the second day of the trial.
You can try both the home version and the Pro version by toggling an option in the configuration settings (to decide which version to purchase).
The changes Microsoft made to Explorer in W7 may be OK for typical end users, but not for power users. The fact that it doesn't even traverse junction points and "hides" the real path to things drove me crazy. XYplorer changes all that. I'm back to being happy with W7 thanks to this product.
