"Fun demo, neat game...does have some bugs to be worked out though."

    August 27, 2003  |   By zero2dash

    Version: XIII demo

    Summary

XIII is a fun game; I don't know where all these claims of it ripping other things off comes from 'cause nowadays almost everything borrows an idea from something else and besides that, this series was in comic book form a long time before 'The Bourne Identity' was even a script. Regardless, the game is long on the visual flair...apparently game designers aren't sick of using cel shading (even though hardcore import console gamers like myself are sick of seeing it) but it fits the game nicely and ties in with the whole "comic book" idea/premise. The game runs smoothly on most video cards however it does crash every once in awhile...then again, this is a DEMO of an UNFINISHED PRODUCT so I expect stuff like this. Doesn't bother me, but - had to mention it. As for Kontiki being spyware, that's a load of garbage; I've got 3 spyware/adware scanners running on my PC (AdAware, SpywareBlaster, and SpyBot) and none of them see Kontiki as spyware BECAUSE IT'S NOT. Kontiki is a download manager program much like GetRight, it's just web-based and not a big deal considering other sites (especially Gamespot) use it. Anyway...XIII is a cool FPS, I'll be sure to keep my eye on it until Half-Life 2 and Doom3 hit.

    "SpyWare Download Manager Required..."

    August 26, 2003  |

    Version: XIII demo

    Summary

What BS, I refused to download anything that requires me to install additional software such as a spyware download manager.

Don't waste your time downloading this game...

    ""Average.....at BEST!!""

    August 25, 2003  |

    Version: XIII demo

    Summary

AMAZING!!! how all educated advertising copywriters write the same. Notice the overuse of quotations, the bad use of grammer to add rhythm and creditability, and the short-precise sentences. The enthusiasm for the game makes it appear as one of best games ever. Instead XIII is a dressed up version of an outdated linear FPS. Worse yet is requirement to download a Cnet server/spyware? program. "Don't waste your time....COOL!"

    "Very challenging...but very fun"

    August 18, 2003  |

    Version: XIII demo

    Summary

This game is based on the Belgian(?) graphic novel series, and it retains the comic book graphical style. The gameplay is fun, and there are a lot of cool comic book panel effects (i.e. a guy you shot falls off a cliff, small panel on the side of the screen shows a different camera angle of him falling). If you're up for a challenge or are really good at FPS games, this is a must download.

    "Not bad"

    August 17, 2003  |

    Version: XIII demo

    Summary

a descent game. Don't compare it with medal of honor or anything similar like it, but it isn't that bad as most games now a days are pretty boring. Try it.
    ps: crashes pretty often.

    Summary

Although in comic-style, I think the Unreal engine in this game makes it cool for users to play. VERY COOL GAME. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

"Nice twist on the FPS genre"

    August 14, 2003  |

    Version: XIII demo

    Summary

It's like playing a classy comic book. Cartoony, but with great style and excellent gameplay. Nice range of weapons, and a good balance including a few puzzles and lots of carnage.
Only annoying thing was that you dont seem to be able to save mid-level, so if you screw up its back to the start.
I might actually buy this one to keep me busy till Half Life 2 hits the streets.
