"Great design, but service lost them a customer"

Pros
Fast, thorough, with very flexible search terms. Boolean on steroids. Very intuitive UI. Searches can be stored. Searches across network drives, including NAS drives.
Cons
Dreadful customer service. I've no idea what the license fees purchase, but it's definitely not customer service. A few months after I purchased a license - $50 - the index files started getting corrupted within a day or two of being created. I'm using Windows 7 Home Edition - not an uncommon OS - but there was no solution to be found, in the user forums. And no assistance from X1 itself. Basically, X1 stole my money and sold me a faulty product.
Summary
Download a trial, test it thoroughly, pray you don't change OS or that any fix of your OS renders X1 useless. If that happens, you'll get no help from X1 at all; your only hope will be that someone in the user community will have encountered the problem and found a fix. In my case, I was forced to Copernic, which is designed nearly as good as X1. Copernic's index files aren't nearly as fragile as X1's, on my Windows 7 machine. So, Copernic gets my money and you get this warning about X1. Buyer beware. X1 is guilty of thievery, plain and simple.
