I'm amazed by how many people whop give this a low rating and dont really understand what it is. IT IS NOT A GAME nor a flight sim posing as a game, it is an actual flight simulator used to train pilots thats available for anyone interested. It therincorpates all of the bugs invovled in actual flight. Physics, flight instrumentation, bugs in planes and the way they handle are all in this. It of course has its own bugs in dealing with this massively complex environment-- and the programmer updates it constantly and listens to users. This is not MS Flight Simulator which cant come close to duplicating real flight in a real airplane...great for a sunday, sunny day jaunt but thats about it. The number of complex physic realities thrown into this make it good enough for flight certification and training at flight schools. Pay $25 bucks for Fly! or get a PC if you want to play a game. I find this as close to real as it gets and will continue to pay $99 especially when I can get my instrument rating practice without dealing with the blizzard outside.. -

Users can choose to be doormats and be walked over, or not. Easy to tell in VT by the following formula: number of stars / release date. -

do u really expect free upgrades for life? come on! every software (almost) has some bugs of some kind. Do u complain to apple because u have to buy upgrades to the system? All of those systems have bugs of some kind. If u r looking for a good flight sim that is accurate and looks cool then go with x-plane. but then again, what else are u gonna do? hahaha -

This game is overpriced. I think they are taking advantage of the fact that this is the only good flight simulator for os x and charging too much for it. Take a look at microsoft flight simulator 2002, just as good as x-plane but half the price. -

Listen Up Potential X-Plane Users
This is what you need to know.
Since X-Plane version 7.00 Beta-5 is just in BETA form and not in it's official master release yet, it is still rough around the edges, but once it becomes polished it will be well worth the wait. Be patient because versions 6.51, and 6.70 are FANTASTIC flight simulators. In fact X-Plane is the only flight simulator a person can use on a Macintosh or Windows COMPUTER right now, today, that you can actually get your REAL flight certification on. What does that tell you? Because it is open source it has a MASSIVE following all over the world. NO other flight simuluator can state these things as fact.
Folks that are having problems with launching errors or just difficulty downloading X-Plane try these three things.
1- Since this download is a GIGANTIC 132 MBs, make sure you have a high speed Cable or DSL Internet connection or the download probably won't make a complete and smooth download which will most likely lead to potential corruption and or launching errors.
2-Try a different web browser to do the download. I have successfully downloaded X-Plane using Safari, IE, and Netscape.
3- Buy and use the 20 dollar Speed Download Internet utility. It works great and is worth every penny of 20 dollars. I have used this wonderful software to download X-Plane many different times wiithout failure. GET THIS... Each time, using my Cable broadband Internet connnection X-Plame downloaded in ONLY 10 minutes. REALLY. That is a 132 MB download, and when expanded it becomes a whopping 503 MB. This is an absolute fact.
Try these methods listed above and I believe you will have success and much enjoyment of X-Plane. -
