X-Plane Helicopter specifications

What's new in version 9.710

When flying helicopters, the engine failures are now more accurate. In a twin helicopter after a SINGLE engine failure, you may be able to limp along at half power! And, if you lose BOTH engines in a twin, or the only engine in a single, you should now be able to do complete auto-rotations!Now, the sound DOES come back after getting a phone call, which was a problem in recent releases. Some autopilot improvements to track heading better when in heading mode, which is useful for the longer flights. The EFIS PFD now always indicates within the 0 to 360 range, never outside of that. This is what you see in real airplanes. This is a drastic and extreme maneuver where you FLATTEN the rotor pitch by pushing the collective all the way to the top of the screen and let the air spin the rotor like a windmill as you plummet down. Then, at the last moment before you impact the ground in a crash, you yank the collective back towards you to slow the descent rate and make a smooth landing. This is what they do in real helos, it is very hard, and now you can try it, too! Just fail the engines in the failures page in any helo to try it out!
