  • "Worms World Party"
  • Version reviewed: Worms World Party 1
This incarnation of the popular Worms series is actually just Worms 2 with a cooperative multiplayer option and minor cosmetic enhancements. The gameplay is unchanged: you control a team of worms on a 2D field with many destructible objects. Your goal is to destroy the opponent's team by ordering your worms to shoot in turns. You select from a dozen weapons and set the direction and power of the shot, taking the wind into account. Worms World Party supports multiplayer Internet action and allows your worms to speak in practically all world languages. Graphically, the game is quite pleasing, though by today's standards, the 2D engine looks obsolete. As with all the Worms games, a strong point is the humorous voice comments, which give the violence a cartoonish, nonthreatening feel. The 60-minute demo has the potential to get you hooked, though if you'd prefer 3D graphics, you may want to try later Worms sequels instead.
