The only way to stop them from killing you and the inhabitants of word is to spell words then destroy them before they reach the surface. Clear each level by spelling out as many words as possible then blow them away with the fire button. Face bonus rounds to collect as many points as you can include extra lives and freeze bombs to get yourself out of tricky situations. Survive all the rounds so that you can face letterman the evil ruler of the planet. Kill him to set the inhabitants free. It features game play is a mix of arcade and scrabble, ability to gain extra lives and freeze bombs, lots of challenge and fun too, and awesome last round if you can make it that far.
