Version: Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor 1.0
"If you are upgrading to Vista, this test is for you"
Pros: Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor scans your whole computer and tells you if your pc can handle the new Vista os. If your pc fails the test, it will recommend what you need to upgrade to meet the Vista minimum requirements. Mine passed the test with flying colors, except for my old Lexmark printer.
Cons: Depending on what version of Vista you chose, the cost of the disk is $200-$400. I am sure these prices will come down by summer, but right now they are kind of steep.

Anyway I did. I don't know if there is any difference, I didn't keep it enabled long enough. I switched to Comodo after the first day. No intrusion attempts yet, and I'm logged on 24/7. I guess all the bad guys are sticking with XP for now.

...is there any difference between xp-firewall and vista's (with router I've settled on windows f/w) ....now that I've upgraded my pc, I have to save up for vista-upgrade (north of the border, the prices are a lot higher)

You don't need to use Windows One Care. I am running Nod32 2007 for my AV, and Comodo for my firewall. You can also run a HIPS program, if you want.

...to work the bugs out of XP, and now they've extended the support of XP ('til 2012) to give them time to work on Vista. I just hope they dump the a/v & a/s from the mix. I'd rather take care of my own security thanx...

Yes I purchased Vista Home Premium Upgrade at Stapples for $159.95, on Feb 1st. I found out you only need to by the upgrade if you already have any version of Windows on your PC. I love it, the security, the 3D effects, the side bar, and all the extra features. Only drawback is that some of the software writers have not upgraded there products to Vista specs. My registered copy of TuneUp Utilities, DFX, and some other programs I have purchased have been dragging their feet, and won't work with Vista.

I decided to stick with XP-MCE lol and upgrade my pc instead! Ur right about softpedia & mg...dLo speeds are way too slow compared to dLo.com.
