  Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1

  "unable to reload Movie Maker on XP with SP3"

  Pros: links to download Microsoft Movie Maker inevitably lead to Windows site which requires XP with SP2, but will not work with SP3 installed.
  Microsoft then requires Internet Explorer 8 and IE8 puts the nail in the coffin for Movie Maker download.

  Cons: Provide a download file (or link to it) for Windows XP Movie Maker (V1.1 or 2.1 preferred) which works with XP SP3 and does not require access to Microsoft website.
  Early versions will edit and convert between video types,

  Summary: no problems with Microsoft Movie Maker itself, just problems getting it reinstalled after an unknown bug causes it to crash
