"Windows Movie Maker is great!"
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros
I love how it makes the audio higher for sound clip dubbing and renders perfect quality for YouTube videos.
Cons
Editing long videos is a hassle, and .avi files edit slowly.
Summary
I think Windows Movie Maker is a great program for beginners and even pros. For a free program, there's actually a lot that can be done with it. I use it to upload songs and make edits on YouTube, and I love how the program makes dubbed sound clips louder, equaling the video's actual volume. So, that's my review. Movie Maker is a great program, and it rarely ever crashes on me. And I especially like this version; way better than the Movie Maker on Windows Vista.

"Freezes CONSTANTLY! Extremely frustrating."
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros
Absolutely Nothing.
Cons
Freezes constantly. No exaggeration....probably once every 3 minutes. Makes it impossible to get anything done. Also, you can only manually control how long each picture frame lasts in a movie. There is no adjustable default setting for length.
Summary
Spend some money, and get something else. This software will make you want to pull your hair out. I cannot give this a low enough rating.

"It got nowhere because it woluld freeze up!"
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros

Not as complicated!Cons
It freezes up a lot!
You can't get much done!
It gets irritating so bad you just want to throw your computer out the window!
Wouldn't recommend using this product...Summary
I would get like 2 things done, but then it would say that it was closing because of some misunderstanding, I tried everything to do to fix it but it still didn't work! So I got so irrated I almost started crying and throwing my computer out the window! I wouldn't recommend this product for low tolerance of irritation!

"Crashes constantly!"
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros
This product is somewhat easy to use. It has useful features.
Cons
It crashes every half hour.
Summary
Find something else. This has potential, but it is too irritating to be worth it.

"Cheap, simple, very irritating"
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros
Very easy to use and free... on the face of it a great combination.
Cons
It freezes a lot, and it won't save projects over a certain number of clips and complexity - it is a terrible resource hog, and uses enormous amounts of virtual memory.
Summary
Useful for the smallest projects, but overall a pretty weak product - it is just too buggy to be useful.

"Basic to use"
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros
It is easy to use, very basic for beginners if your starting to edit and make videos this is the software to use.
Cons
Its Microsoft.
Summary
Yes it freezes has more glitches then you can imagine and really does not work well with other programs. But there is away around that for starters close down any internet programs like IM's, or Web Browsers. Then it works well for a while, if continues to have glitches reload the program it seems to help also get a free codex pack too. Also SAVE your work constantly.

"makes TERRIBLE sound when you SAVE your files"
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros
it's an easy to use program that's a bit more precise than avidemux & makes great edits as long as you only watch them inside the program itself
Cons
1. it DESTROYS your audio
2. it refuses to edit MPEGs & VOBs!!!
3. it HIDES it's AVI editing with a switch whose default is "off"!
4. the only way to get good audio is by kowtowing to microsoft and converting sound to WMV!!!
5. ruins aspect ratiosSummary
it's a steaming pile of crap if you want to create any kind of QUALITY video & audio. i LITERALLY wasted 12 hours getting a video converter that works (quick media converter is AWESOME!) just so i could even work with this abomination, and after i finished my 6 minute clip & saved it, was horrified to find that no matter how i tried to save my 200mb worth of clips, all i could get is distorted CRAP!
it's just another one of the ways windows is hostile to fair use or ANYTHING else free! -
"just like Sam said...."
Version: Windows Movie Maker (Windows XP) 2.1
Pros

Cons
