    "Simple Awful"

    March 6, 2011  |   By Complete Novice

    Version: Windows Media Player 11

    Pros

I does play music and video

    Cons

    Unbelievable limited
Loses and deletes music at will.
You cannot do the simpliest of things
    User unfriendly

    Summary

Find any other player than this one. Ashampoo is brilliant.

It is consistantly losing/deleting music from the library, one minute it is there, the next it is gone. The tracks are named and numbered in the folder but when put in the library they go into unknown artist and you have to sort them out. But the clever thing is you are not told how to do it. You have to work it out for yourself, good luck.
You cannot simple right click and create a new folder then drag and drop music into it.
When you want to create a disc, you cannot eliminate the gaps between live numbers if you want to.
The people behind this have put no thought into it, have not bothered to ask the users what they want, in fact at best it is an after thought and a bad one at that.
Use Ashampoo, great design and look and makes wmp look like it has been designed by a budgie.
You can rely on wmp to get it wrong big time and others to get it so right.

    AVOID WMP LIKE THE PLAGUE.

"Microsoft should change their name to "Micromanagers""

    February 10, 2011  |   By Mickrick42

    Version: Windows Media Player 11

    Pros

    Pretty - that's all

    Cons

It has pretty much stuffed up my music collection. Tracks are renamed; folders are commingled under one album listing that the Media Player has decided is the best fit. And it isn't easy to fix with this player (as if I wanted the work anyway!)

    Summary

I wish Microsoft would talk to real people, instead of computer geeks, when they decide to add bells and whistles. I don't want the machine to interfere with my choices. I don't need separate storage for Documents, Pictures, Music and Video - I understand a hierarchical filing system, and would prefer to file them where I want them.
