"It's Always Gotta be Something with this Thing"

    February 15, 2015  |   By Midget54

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

    Pros:
    It makes videos(ish).

    Cons

    Cons:
-Used it for a year as my only option for video editing, and out of the blue has decided to not even play the ******* video.
-Barely anything can be done in the way of actually EDITING a video.
-You can't add image or video overlays, the old version could at least pull that **** off.
-Brightness adjustment but no one though that a contrast adjustment would be worth the 5 minutes it would've taken to add it.
-99% of the solutions to make it actually work are 100% useless
    -Freezing
    -Freezing
    -Freezing
-Dragging the end marker to the end of a clip while trimming a video will cause the program to stop responding.
-Uninspired in every sense of the word.
-Can't edit the transition durations of text, but you can edit durations for video transitions.
    -I wanna die.

    Why does this exist?

"Awful if you're looking for something other than BASIC!"

    December 30, 2014  |   By pixelsofinfinity

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

WARNING this is seriously a waste of time if you're looking for something really professional . Anyway I used this for several years to create really simplistic lyric videos and videos with just music and a title the entire way through, for youtube. I guess its OK and isn't entirely bad- it's just wayy too limited if you're looking to even do something simple like adding an image on top of a video. Once you get the hang of it you can make lyric videos with a LOT of patience. I guess you pay for what you get. In this case, it's free, so you won't lose any money but you will lose your time.

    Cons

    - Timing sync between audio and video is often off and plays up a lot. Takes a lot of patience to actually get the sync correct.
-Crashes a lot "Movie Maker had to close unexpectedly". I end up having to always save after EVERY action which is irritating -__-
    - Cannot add videos/images on top of videos
    - Cannot add multiple audio tracks on top of each other
    - Cannot add two different text sizes in the same place
[-cannot add two different texts at the same place in the timeline]
-Freezes so you have to be patient if it stops and starts again
-Not many effects, although you can zoom in gradually you can't crop videos or images
-I'm sure i could think of tons more cons but i'm in a hurry coz i'm looking for another alternative atm!!

    Summary

I've finally given up on this software after ages. Having trouble finding alternatives....fingers crossed there is something better than this that is still free! If you're going to use this...good luck :)

    "creativity made easy"

    May 27, 2014  |   By Joelhers

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

I have been trying for days to bring a simple idea together (about cropping and zooming in a video) with another program. I decided to give it a shot, and in minutes finished a short video. Wonder Easy should be the name for this product

    Cons

I Just Got The Update Today... Thank You For Listening To My Suggestions On How To Make The Program Better

    Summary

Just updated the video editor to the newest version and found there a lot of templates and special effects added. That's fantastic.
FYI there is a portable version of Windows Live Movie Maker, which can be found here: http://bit.do/Windows-Live-Movie-Maker

"Easy to use but there issues"

    May 12, 2014  |   By MacCool

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

Easy to use. Compared to VideoPad or Premiere, WLMM has a simple interface and I was able to edit movies within a minute or so of importing video. Cutting is as simple as selecting the start and end points then clicking the scissors icon. There are more than enough transitions and animations for the casual user.

    Cons

    The output video.
    Sound editing is very basic.
Supposed to support 3GP video but it doesn't really, the audio will be lost unless you convert it first with something like FreeMake.

    Summary

So far I have not been able to find a combination of settings that produce acceptable quality output video. The resulting video just doesn't look good but I'm not giving up yet. My needs are simple video and sound editing and WLMM would be perfect if the resulting video didn't look so crappy.

    "Complete Junk"

    May 5, 2014  |   By Jamie_H

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

Free. Can't think of anything else.

    Cons

Total downgrade from previous versions. Locks you into crappy audio bitrates that renders it completely useless as anything other than as a toy.

    Summary

Inexplicably crippled by Microsoft for unexplained reasons. Doesn't even make sense because they don't appear to have a competing product. Just par for the course from Redmond these days.

"Spent more time waiting for the saving than editing"

    March 17, 2014  |   By lord_huumongous

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

easy to figure out (trial and error)

    Cons

    autosave took way too long.
    publishing took just as long.
terrible user manual (might as well not have one)
no options in the options menu.
can't use while saving or publishing.
never found any kind of file converter.

    Summary

came with my PC. used it to make some gaming videos. pretty easy to figure out but the auto save feature before you can publish (youtube) took hours and hours for a 20-30 minute video, then to publish took just as long (which I didn't have an issue with due to the HD quality). If it wasn't for the long autosave's I wouldn't have a problem with this. glad I didn't have to buy it.
