"Spent more time waiting for the saving than editing"

    March 17, 2014  |   By lord_huumongous

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

easy to figure out (trial and error)

    Cons

    autosave took way too long.
    publishing took just as long.
terrible user manual (might as well not have one)
no options in the options menu.
can't use while saving or publishing.
never found any kind of file converter.

    Summary

came with my PC. used it to make some gaming videos. pretty easy to figure out but the auto save feature before you can publish (youtube) took hours and hours for a 20-30 minute video, then to publish took just as long (which I didn't have an issue with due to the HD quality). If it wasn't for the long autosave's I wouldn't have a problem with this. glad I didn't have to buy it.

"UTTER GARBAGE & CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS WORSE"

    February 7, 2014  |   By fielding00

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

    that's funny.

    Cons

I worked pretty much all day yesyerday putting together a slideshow and everything worked fine, video & audio. Today I go to open it and I can't hear the audio. The green bar is there showing me it is playing but I can't hear it. Tried drivers, codecs, converting formats, blah blah blah. Then spent a lovely few hours getting completely jerked around by a very polite but clueless customer support. I'm so mad right now I've sworn never to buy another microsoft piece of garbage ever again. The money you save just ends up biting you in the butt.

    Summary

By all means download this product if you enjoy pounding nails into your head.

"You get what you pay for"

    February 3, 2014  |   By MrTommy

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

    It's free.
You can throw something together quickly, provided you can figure out how to make stuff work.
It's better than nothing (but barely).

    Cons

Almost impossible to find any kind of instructions or help on how to use this.
You can't just cut 'film' where you want to. It divides your video into sections and you can cut at those sections - and ONLY at those sections.

    Summary

As I said in my one-line summary, you get what you pay for. Since you pay nothing for this, you get just a tad more than nothing IN this.

    "No sound after editing"

    November 22, 2013  |   By lyrkerabove

Version: Windows Live Movie Maker 2012

    Pros

    It's free.

    Cons

It removed all sound after editing.
Settings are not intuitive, even for someone who's used video editors before.

    Summary

I took a home video in AVI format and tried to edit it. It had sound before I started. When I trimmed just the blank space at the beginning, it lost all sound. Adjusting the settings did nothing. The original video still sounds perfectly fine so please don't assume I muted my speakers or internal sound. The video doesn't contain any music or added sound or anything copyrighted. It's just people talking in my home. Why the sound's gone is impossible to track down because there's virtually no support for the thing apart from Microsoft's typical generic non-answers. Checking the 'net led to a bunch of folks posting about the same problem with no solution in sight.
