"Should not be offered as completed software"
Version: Windows DVD Maker 3.5
Pros
It is easy
Made for idiots
Gives nice animated DVD menu'sCons
It is extremely limited
- DVD name on menu cannot be longer than 32 characters
- No means to adjust chapter splits
- The animated menus's is all you get - no more availableSummary
I used this software twice and got annoyed both times.
Web admin - this review relates to Windows DVD Maker not this piece of software called Windows DVD Maker. My review refers to the DVD Authoring software allowing you to create DVD menu's and burn the DVD's. If you have that somewhere on this site, please move this review there, if not, delete it.
Do NOT expect Microsoft to develop this software further.
Do NOT expect to have control over your DVD chapters.
Do NOT expect to find more animated menu's
Do NOT expect to create a menu Title longer than 32 characters
Do expect to be spoon fed when creating your DVD.
Do expect to be told how your DVD will be split in chapters.
Half baked software that is free, but should rather be removed from the Microsoft software list. The black sheep of the family that gets no attention but when needed, is peddled as good. Do NOT bother installing.
Recommendation: DVDStyler. Unfortunately no animated menu's, but it works and allows various custom settings ranging from DVD background, placement of buttons, splitting of chapters.

"Get Revo ready, because you will be uninstalling!"
Version: Windows DVD Maker 3.5
Pros
User interface is intuitive. That's it.
Cons
It loaded up my computer with a BS search engine, hijacked my home page, install 2 separate BS toolbars and some anti phishing protection crap.
You immediately see that it crippleware. Everything is watermaked, and audio is only recorded for 3 minutes. I call this ransom-ware.Summary
I uninstalled this immediately after trying it once. Then I had to use Revo to get rid of all the crapware that came with it. It essentially raped my computer, and is completely worthless.
You are better off with the primitive 4 year old version that came with Windows 7. -
"junk - useless waste of time + spam toolbar"
Version: Windows DVD Maker 3.5
Pros
none whatsoever
Cons
the limitations of the "trial version" are MANY - not only is is apparently 7-days only, but the program puts a watermark on your entire DVD video plus dead silence on the audio, except for the first 3 minutes. WHY was this not mentioned on C-NET? Plus, when you install the software, it tries to trick you into downloading this junk toolbar for your internet brower.
Summary
This product has nothing to do with Windows, I believe it's from a different company who oughta be sued by Microsoft for putting out such a junk program. DON'T waste your time folks!
