Version: Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking Upgrade 1.4
"1.4 crashed & ruin my DUN connections"
Summary: I used CNET's Catchup Monday. It said that I should upgrade to 1.4. I sent a email to my ISPs technical support about it. They said it wasn't any problem. Yes, yes, I know I should have backed up my hard drive, but my tape drive is broken. In the past, I had no problems with the DUN upgrades. So, I installed this. I immediately faced problems. I couldn't login properly. I couldn't load my home page. I couldn't access Messenger. I couldn't use Communicator 4.72 at all. So, I went to the readme.file. It said that if I uninstalled 1.4 all of DUN would be uninstalled. I really didn't want that, but I couldn't connect to the Net. I found my 1.2 download. So, I uninstalled 1.4 and installed 1.2. Well, that didn't work. I went into Add/Remove to try to install DUN. I pulled out my Packard-Bell CD master disk and tried to install DUN. Well, according to Windows 95, I was missing a whole bunch of files, like MSDUN.CAB. I'm at the library, because I don't know what to do. I called up a repair place and they claim it would be $65- to look at the machine and then 1-1/2 hours to fix it. I find it hard to believe it would take that time to reinstall DUN. I would appreciate any advice from anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area. My number is 510-528-0654.
