"Tool is too limited for usage"

    January 7, 2013  |   By ShadowNaz

Interface is simple and clean. Download and installation is clear without lots of offers for free add-ons like you see with many of these downloads.

Even though product is designed to work for "Microsoft Images", it will only work on clean downloads. ISO images that have been modified, or created using the Microsoft AIK Toolkit (Enterprise Deployment) are not recognized. If Microsoft is going to take the time to make something like this it should at least work with ISOs generated from its own tools.

There is no reason to make the tool so limited. ISOs are standard formats and it took more work to make the tool extremely limited than it would have took to make it work with a wider range of ISOs. This was a very poor decision on Microsoft's part and makes the tool unusable with other Microsoft products.

Thanks, that helps explain why the company I bought a refurb from could not help me make a recovery disc. I tried their W7 drop box download with this tool they directed me to on 3 different computers and got a "not valid iso image" error message. I let them try by remote control and it failed. They even installed a VM machine, Win7 zip, and a couple other programs on the new refurb before failing again. While waiting for another failure I checked Cnet for a review of this tool, found this, and told them what you said. They are going to "huddle up" and call me tomorrow. While waiting for tomorrow to come I found the answer, a free program called img burn. It was able to make a recovery disc for me using their download.
