    "Using Your Bootable USB"

    January 25, 2012  |   By dbeifeld

    Version: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool 1.0

    Pros

After tial & error, works well

    Cons

Convoluted description on how it works - can be misleading.

    Summary

Does work as advertised though it's explaination is wanting. IMPORTANT: When booting from the resulting USB device, make sure it's the only USB device available on the system, else it may not be recognized and you may think the process did'nt work.

    Version: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool 1.0

    Pros

    Does what it should do.

    Cons

    No cons so far.

    Summary

To CNet: Although I understand the need for SEO content but reading 3 paragraphs with the same content phrased differently is a bit much.It is niot good to repeat the same thing over and over again just to get a good SEO rank.SEO Rank might be important but repeating the same thing over and over again is tiring.

"Works great. Not just Windows CD's, but finicky."

    December 10, 2011  |   By Bubba_Gump

    Version: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool 1.0

    Pros

Quick & Easy CD-to-boot-Flashdrive utility from a trusted source. Exported an ISO copy of my 5.75GB Windows 7 DVD to a 32gb flash drive, which I then used to install Windows 7 to an SSD. Worked perfectly.

Creates a bootable flash drive more quickly than most other utilities I've tried. And it's free.

    Cons

App is VERY picky about the source ISO. It doesn't have to be Windows, but it DOES have to be in standard ISO9660 format. It balks at "Joliet" format ISO files (search online for an app to convert your ISO's to "Standard 9660" format). For example, the Ubuntu Linux iso is distributed in "Joliet" format, but I imagine if you convert it, this app would put it on a thumbdrive for you.

When you install this app, it first must download service files off the MS website, and since it's a defunct app, it is likely that eventually MS might delete those service files so future users won't be able to install the program (or might have to purchase a newer version from M$.)

Also note, one you create your flash drive, it will no longer be in a format readable by Windows. Good for booting only (until you reformat it.)

    Summary

Works great. Limited functionality, but for it's intended purpose (putting Win7 on a thumbdrive), this is the best app around.

    "Perfect, Simple, Easy"

    September 17, 2011  |   By ny2nv

    Version: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool 1.0

    Pros

It allowed me to install a large iso file on a flash drive, that would not fit on a DVD. It will create either a bootable flash drive or DVD.
It's a small easy to use program.

    Cons

None, I used it with Win7 64bit version.

    Summary

Great program does what it says, I used it for the Win8 Developers install.

    Updated on Dec 18, 2011

Perfect, couldn't be easier to use. Used it on DVD's and USB flash drives. Worked with Win8 and Linux ISO's.
