"Ok codec pack."
Pros
Works as advertised.
Cons
The only con I found was the .mkv-codec works the first few times but after that, WMP crashes with it.

I know they don't wear out, how stupid do you think I am? I always restart my system after installing software. I've tried re-installing it twice with no success.
Updated on Mar 13, 2012Win7 sp1 64bit. WMP just crashes.

Sorry. I do get to see a lot of very stupid reviews on here.
You stated that .mkv playback worked at first and then stopped working. You didn't state anything else. No Windows version, 32bit or 64bit, no mention of whether you were trying to play the same previous files that worked. It's likely that you've installed something that conflicts. -
The codecs do not wear out or just stop working. It is likely that you didn't restart your system after uninstalling a previous codec pack, so your system has deleted files after restart. Simply re-install the codec pack.
