The program mainly makes the Windows interface more attractive with various transitions and transparency effects, but also somewhat facilitates working with multiple applications on Desktop. For example, it enables you to set the size and position of maximized windows very useful feature, if you need to always keep a screen area visible. You can make windows of specified programs semi-transparent (even for mouse clicks), which is convenient for applications running in the background. Other features are purely decorative shadows under windows and menus, transparency for menus and icons, transitions and animations for maximized and dragged windows. The interface could be handier WindowFX doesn t store settings profiles for different work conditions. The program requires quite a powerful hardware configuration to smoothly run, but it can turn off the effects for specified applications and large windows. The trial version has too many effects disabled to decide if you really need WindowFX.Publisher's description

Version: WindowFX 3.0
"Get Windows Vista effects on Windows XP!!!"
Pros: This amazing little program adds animation to your windows and menus. It can give you thumbnails of the contents of a minimized window by mousing over it, it can show you a graphical display of windows to switch between, and it even allows you to assign a mouse button to use to change windows without using your keyboard! The animations are really nice. They range from fade-in/fade-out to spin in and out, etc. This nifty little program will add the type of animations and effects promised by Windows Vista to Windows XP.
Cons: This is a great program, but it is pretty graphic intensive. You will need to have a good graphics card, processor, and RAM to run it smoothly. My machine has a 2.8 gHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and a ATI RADEON 9000 card w/64MB video RAM, and it does not have any major problems running it. The download offered here is a trial that will run out in about 30 days. Since this is a part of the Object Desktop Suite, along with other popular programs like WindowBlinds, you may want to just purchase the subscription to Object Desktop if you are thinking of buying this or any Stardock product, that way you will have immediate access to all their programs. I think that if you have the hardware, then you should definitely try this software!

Version: WindowFX 3.0
Pros: Sometimes it's the little things that can make a big impact. The software adds just a little bit of 'eye candy' to the otherwise normal, boring Desktop. (Makes the windows act just like they do in Vista.) It's definitely something that I'd recommend for a system that has a good graphics card and a lot of memory.
Cons: The program kept crashing on me whenever I tried to adjust settings for the minimizing and maximizing of the windows. Other than that, everything else seems to be working just fine.

"Adds functionality, not just eye candy"
Pros: I disable most of the eye candy that WindowsFX adds, it just doesn't appeal to me. What I love are the drop shadows and the thumbnail previews. The drop shadows help me identify layered windows quicker and the thumbnail previews help me find what I want on a cluttered taskbar. The extra stuff is just a bonus.
Cons: Even though this version is a lot faster than previous versions. It still takes a slight hit on your processor using it.

Pros: It is so cool! it is like vista! i like it because it adds transition for vista (aero only) and it adds a little bit of the features that can dazzle me! it was just a expert use by me. i love it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
